A mantra worthy of consideration…

Good folks, many of you outside our orbit are in need of an update. As of tomorrow, Revolution Fitness and Jarrod Black Exercise Physiology are moving shop to the Lota PCYC. They have an unbelievable gym there. Pilates at Revolution Fitness is shifting home.

It’s been a fairly chaotic and stressful few months but it looks like we are just about over the line. We thank all of our wonderful clients for their amazing continued support. You are literally what keeps us going and ready for our next adventure.

True story....I didn't train this year as hard as I did in previous years. Making an album was super time consuming. Most weeks I did three strength sessions per week as opposed to 4. My walking and mobility work was still regular.

In terms of diet, there isn't much to mention. I did as I always do... a slightly protein driven balanced diet with intermittent fasting on board. On training days I eat when and what I want and on non training days, I skip a meal or three.

End result is I am healthy and pretty fit. All in all, my joints have held up well. While I have been leaner or bigger at certain stages, I feel great physically and mentally.

The take home message is important. If you lay a solid foundation, it doesn't take that much to maintain a reasonably decent physique.

This is what success and determination looks like. I am really proud of my friend Amy Lavery. She has lost 10.5 kilos, 3 inches off her waist while becoming very strong. No magic pills here. Just consistency and hard work which of course trumps everything.

Have you trained legs this week? As we age, we must NOT ignore training our legs! Here are 5 reasons why.

1. You walk with the damn things and you are going to want to be able to do that easily to your very last day.
2.Training legs hard creates a very favourable cascade of hormones which promotes accrual of lean muscle mass.
3. Training legs forces the cardio vascular system to work harder and in time improves your general fitness.
4. Unilateral leg training greatly elevates balance which assures that you are less likely to injure yourself in a fall.
5. If you forget the first 4, understand that you will look WAY better in jeans with strong shapely legs and the accompanying ASS when you work those suckers.

Question... what does the ideal physique look like. Post a photo of your favourite physique and don't give the looks don't mean anything crap. This post will examine what we find appealing, discuss the possibility of obtaining the body and hopefully disprove a few myths in this space.

I'm going to start with my favourite, it's Steve Reeves. As you can tell, the photo is likely older than many of us. What do I like about it? He has an unbelievably small waist to large lat taper. He is muscular without being huge. He looks healthy and athletic. Ok, pick yours!
