A special thank you to our wonderful Wynnum croquet club volunteers who gave up part of their Sunday to support our croquet club and promote our club to the local community at the Bayside Spring festival.

Our gazebo was set up and ready to welcome visitors with information about our club available to anyone curious to learn about croquet. Thanks to Tony, Rick and his daughte Talee and Cameron. We encouraged people to pick a mallet and "have a go".

There was plenty happening throughout the festival with a fantastic display of VW cars, live entertainment and activities for the whole family.

Proud Queenslanders defeated Western Australia Day 3 of the Inter State Shield.

Windsor Shield
Shield conducted in 4 blocks in ranking order.
The top block was the 4 top ranked players available on the day.
Players 1 and 2 were the top 2 ranked players in Qld. .
The third and fourth players were ranked 9th and 10 of the men in Qld.
Play was a double round robin with the loser of the toss hitting off first in the second game.
The top player from Windsor CC with a -2 handicap played brilliant croquet to complete his 6 x 1 hour games undefeated.
The remaining three players finished with identical wins and losses to share runners up. The Toowoomba player was a -2 handicap with Geoff and the remaining Eildon player both -0 handicappers.
Conducted in temperatures in the mid 30’s the standard of play overall was top quality croquet.

GOOD LUCK TO THE QUEENSLAND STATE GC TEAM!
The Queensland State Croquet Team, proudly captained by Ross Rillie, is heading off to Crainlea, Victoria, to compete against teams from around Australia in the Australian GC Interstate Shield.
This is a fantastic opportunity for Queensland’s best players to test their skills against the other states and represent Queensland on the national stage.
From all of us at Wynnum Croquet Club, we wish Ross and the entire Queensland team the very best of luck!
Play well, enjoy the competition and bring that shield back to Queensland!

Congratulations to seven Wynnum Croquet Club members who have successfully completed their Club Referee accreditation.

Becoming a referee takes commitment, study, a willingness to listen and learn, and practice, and we’re delighted to see these members taking on this important role within our club. Your new skills will be a valuable asset to the club and will help ensure our games are played fairly and in accordance with the rules.

Well done to Jim Love, Alison Love, Karen Meates, Aina Johns, Viv Tidmarsh, Tony Davis, and Sue Anderson. We look forward to seeing you putting your new knowledge into practice on the courts at our club.

Bendigo Bank Mixed Doubles at Wynnum Croquet Club 30 August
On Sunday, Wynnum hosted the Bendigo Bank Mixed doubles compeition with some excellent croquet, some close games, plenty of friendly rivarly and a few nervous players.
Thank you to all the players, referees, helpers - everyone who helped organise and run this event and Bendigo Bank for their continued support of Wynnum Croquet Club.
Congratulations to all the players for making it an enjoyable and competitive day!
