A very proud mum letting us know that her eldest son will be piloting one of the EA-18s flying the coastline today around Tasmania.

We’re also very proud of Mat here at the Wynyard Aero Club too. He had his ab initio training with SkyFlyte and was a member of our club. Well done Mat, wishing you safe travels and many more amazing achievements.

Congratulations to the 5 crews from Wynyard Aero Club who took part in the very successful Battle of Britain Dawn Patrol from Wynyard to Ulverstone early yesterday. Not quite to the RAAF display standard, but not too shabby for a bunch of recreational flyers. Let's keep this flypast tradition alive! [pic: Russell Fletcher as "tail-end charlie"]

It's time to commemorate the 86th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, usually recognised on the weekend closest to the 15th September each year.

According to Wynyard Aero Club tradition, weather permitting, we will fly the "Dawn Patrol" tomorrow Saturday 12th September, taking off at first light (about 6am).

Our flypast (of 6 recreational aircraft) will fly from Wynyard to Ulverstone and return.

We invite any member of the community who happens to be an early riser and sees us fly over, to wave and capture a photograph of our flypast.

Make sure you don't miss the RAAF PC21 aerobatic display over East Wynyard scheduled for 12:25pm.

Ride the red Foxbat up the Pieman River from Pieman Heads on the West Coast to Tullah beside Lake Rosebery. Sped up 4x.

Ride the red Foxbat from Smithton back to Wynyard via the various islands of Western Bass Strait. This was captured last Sunday afternoon when there was a gloomy overcast sky in the Smithton area. The sun low in the NW sky made for difficult filming conditions, but here it is anyway... [CAUTION: "rapid" turns may cause nausea for some individuals]

Ride the red Foxbat, coastal from St Helens to Barnbougle at 4x speed. Sun glare was a major issue for this flight, but maybe the annotations will make up for it... NOTE: the real-time 4K version is now on the Wandering Foxbat YouTube channel.

Take a ride on the red Foxbat from Wynyard to St Helens at 8x normal speed (1200kph). This was filmed last Sunday in superb flying conditions. The 2x speed 4K version is available on the Wandering Foxbat YouTube channel.
