A NIGHT OUT FOR JUNIOR BASKETBALL PARENTS
A comedy show for anyone who’s ever spent their weekend in a basketball stadium.
Have you ever spent an entire weekend in a basketball stadium? Survived a close game decided by one questionable referee’s call? Or watched a parent behave as though an Under-10s game was Game 7 of the NBA Finals?
Then this show is for you.

Comedian Josh Earl, as seen on Spicks and Specks, The Cheap Seats, MICF Allstars Gala, Question Everything and Talking About Your Generation, but also a Burnie kid who spent every Friday night from age 5 to 16 at the Upper Burnie basketball stadium brings his comedy show about the wonderfully ridiculous world of junior basketball to the Burnie Arts Centre

As a junior basketball coach himself, Josh knows that junior sport is about much more than the kids playing the game. It’s about the coaches, the parents, the sideline experts, the questionable tactics, the car trips, the plastic chairs and the emotional rollercoaster of caring far too much about a game that everyone agreed was supposed to be about having fun.

Whether you’ve coached a team, spent Saturday mornings driving across town, shouted advice from the sidelines or quietly judged another parent’s behaviour, there’ll be something here you recognise.

And while the show is about basketball, you don’t have to be a basketball tragic to enjoy it. If you’ve ever been involved in junior netball, footy, soccer, cricket or any other sport, you’ll know exactly what we’re talking about.
We’d love to get a group of basketball parents and coaches together for a proper night out — one where nobody has to keep score, organise oranges or explain a referee’s decision.
Show: JOSH EARL - COACH
Date and time: December 3 at 8pm (duration 60 minutes)
Venue: Burnie Arts Centre
Tickets: $30 at https://www.burniearts.net/Whats-On/2026/Josh-Earl

Gather your teammates, fellow parents and coaching staff, organise a babysitter, and enjoy a night of comedy celebrating the highs, lows and sheer absurdity of junior sport.
You’ve spent years sitting on hard wooden benches watching your kids play sport. Now it’s your night out.
