Oh no, the regular footy season is over, it's all very sad. No more worrying about how your team will go, no more worrying about getting the tips in on time and then checking on my additions on the score sheets. Actually i think i have made minimum mistakes this year.
A few upsets to finish the regular season. Teams not in top 8 had nothing to lose so why not go out and try to upset the other. Broncos came from nowhere to make sure Doggies did not make the top 8. Phins were lucky to get a win over the Titans and Rabbits were always going to beat a 2nd rate Rooster team.
Manly put the wind up the Kiwis to nearly cause a massive upset but Kiwis did well to get the field goal and get the win. Where has the Raiders form been all season, a massive upset win over the C'girls who are in top 8. Storm showed the Sharkies they have a lot of work to do if they want to stay in the running for a semi final spot and then Dragqueens upset the Eels with a 2pt field goal to win the game. Pesky Panthers were far too good for the Tigers and win the the minor premiership. The biggest upset was the Knights winning the bye and collecting the 2pts.
If your team did not make the top 8 it's a case of who to barrack for. The team playing against the most disliked team or a team you are fond of. For me it will be Rabbits and Kiwis.
Friday kicks off with the Rabbits taking on the Knights. I don't dislike the Knights but cannot go against the Rabbits. Saturday starts with Kiwis against the Phins. Lucky both these teams get a 2nd chance as they both finished in top 4. Next up the Sharkies play the C'girls. Both lost last round so it's a hard pick. To finish off the round the Sunday arvo game will be huge with pesky Panthers playing the Roosters .Will resting the team in the last round back fire on those cocky Roosters or will they be refreshed and raring to go.
The sausage sizzle is on this Saturday the 12th of Sept at 2pm at 14 Harbour st, through to the backyard or the back entrance which has a Bayside rental sign on the gate, It's about 23 Wooli st. It's Byo alcohol, drinks, husbands, wives and partners.
All will be revealed at the sausage sizzle as to who ended on the podium, who was nowhere near it and other surprises. Till next week, if your team is still playing, good luck to them. Till next week Sea eagle Sue.

Where has this footy season gone. One round left before the serious business of semis and finals begin. The minor premiership is still up for grabs between pesky Panthers and the Kiwis. Roosters were up there but a loss to Phins took that chance away.
Storm and mighty Manly have left their run too late for the top 8, both have has good wins in recent weeks. Pesky panthers were too good in the end with their win over the Doggies. C'girls kept their hopes alive with a win over Tigers and Rabbits have hung in the top 8 with a win over Titans. Sounds like the Kiwis and Knights played a torrid game with Kiwis coming out winner. Eels surprised all with a very good win over the chokers, Sharkies.
Round 27 starts with the Doggies playing Broncos. Both teams are playing for pride. Friday kicks off with Titans playing the Phins. The Phins should win this and keep their 3rd spot on the ladder and perhaps get a home semi game. Game of the round has to be the T.V game between Rabbits and Roosters. No love lost between these 2 teams but I hope Rabbits put the cleaners through the Roosters.
Sat arvo kicks off with the Kiwis at home to mighty Manly. I would love for Manly to finish the season on a high and win this game. Next up has the C'girls at home to Raiders. C'girls need to win this to stay in 8 but on a good day Raiders can beat any team. Rounding off the night Sharkies play the Storm. Sharkies need to play better that they did in rd 26 to stay in top 8.
Dragqueens play Eels in the first of the Sun games. Neither in the running for a top finish and dragqeens have the wooden spoon wrapped up but both playing for pride. Pesky Panthers should easily beat the Tigers. Knights have the bye. They need it to regather themselves and get into semi mode.
Scoresheets are down but you can still support Lochies butcher shop, main street bottle shop and Spilt milk. The sausage sizzle is on 12th Sept at 2pm in backyard of 14 Harbour st or the back gate that has a Bayside sign on it in Wooli st. Byo alcohol, partner, husband or wife. All will be revealed as to who wins and who finishes last in this very last tipping comp. I will be running.
Tips in before kickoff Thurs night, good luck to your team and mighty Manly you can upset the Kiwis. Till next week Sea eagle Sue.

Better late than never, a short report on last rounds winners and losers and a top ten round up of tipsters. Winners include mighty Manly, Broncos and Tigers. Losers include poor Knights, yahoo, Rabbits, raiders and Roosters, boo hoo. It was a strange feeling sitting at MacDonald Jones Stadium Newcastle in a sea of Knights supporters and yours truly proudly flying the mighty Manly flag. Keep an eye open for a sad Knight supporter wearing a Manly scarf. A bets a bet.
A few tipsters struggled to get too many right. One tipster managed none right, that's right, Dave V, you need tipping lessons. Next a few tipsters got 2 and goes right up to some that got 6 . Cameron P still leads on 126pts, followed closely by Paul T on 125 pts and in 3rd spot on 123 is Graeme R. Next up we have Maree H and Dave C on 119pts then Sue P on 118pts, Steve P on 117, Kerry D on 115 then Heather P, Julie E and Christine R all on 114pts. Dave V is clinging onto the wooden spoon.
Round 26 starts with Broncos playing Storm, toss a coin for this one, neither in top 8, Friday games begin with mighty Manly taking on the Dragqueens followed by Panthers playing Doggies. Both need a win. Titans take on Rabbits in the first of the Sat games, followed by Roosters and Phins, on the T.V and to finish off the night C'girls play Tigers.
The Kiwis play Knights in the first of the Sun arvo games with Eels and Sharkies the last game. Raiders have the bye.
The important sausage sizzle is on Sat 12th Sept at 2pm in the backyard of 14 Harbour St. BYO alcohol. This is the very last one so it would be wonderful if lots of tipsters turned up. Prizes are given out and winners and losers are announced.
Scoresheets come done in Lochie's butcher shop and the bottle shop on Monday so check out the points before then. Tips in before kickoff on Thurs night, good luck to your team and Manly do not take Dragqueens lightly. Till next week, sea eagle Sue.

Sorry about no report last week folks, a full home with lots going on. Anyway i only saw little bits of Rd24 games so really cannot pass comment on too much. I do know that my mighty Manly got bageled, Rabbits cleaned up the Doggies, the Kiwis were close to keeping Broncos to a nil score and now Broncos could end up with the wooden spoon. Knights are continuing on their winning way and Dragqueens got another win.
A little bit of movement on the scoreboard ladder. Cameron P has skipped out to a 2 point lead after picking 7 right. He is on 122pts, Paul T sits on 120 and Graeme R on 118pts. Next up is David C on 115, Maree H on 114 and squeezed on 113pts are Kerry D, Steve P and yours truly. Melissa A and Lochie have the wooden spoon position.
Round 25 starts off with Storm playing pesky Panthers. Important game for Panthers, they have lost the top spot on the ladder and need to be careful that the Kiwis and Phins don't push them out of top 4.
Raiders and Broncos kick off the Friday night games and should be a home ground win for the Raiders, The T.V game sees Phins take on the Eels. Should be a Phins win.
First game for Saturday arvo has Knights take on mighty Manly at McDonald Jones stadium. Look for me in the crowd, probably the only Manly supporter there. My partner in crime will blend in with the crowd but will be the loudest. Next up will be the Rabbits taking on the Kiwis. The Kiwis have a few injuries and one suspension so this will be the Rabbits best chance. Final game of the night has Dragqueens playing the Doggies. Dragqueens can get of the bottom of the ladder with a win and Doggies can move closer to a top 8 finish.
Titans take on Sharkies in the first of the Sunday arvo games followed by Roosters playing Tigers. C'girls have the bye.
Score sheets can be checked for one more week in Lochie's butcher shop and the main street bottleshop After Rd 25 the score sheets will stay up a few days then come down for the final 2 rounds. The all important sausage sizzle will be on Sept 12th in backyard at 14 Harbour St or Wooli St entrance. Winners and losers will be anounced and a few other prizes. Once again Lochie's butcher will be supplying the sausages and this in turn means more prize money. It's BYO and partners, husbands and wives invited.
This is my last tipping comp. After running it on and off for over 30 years, enough is enough. I still love the game but can relax on Thurs nights not worrying about tipsters getting their tips in.
Good luck to your team, except the Knights, tips in well before kickoff and Manly, put in a bit of effort, please. Till next week, Sea eagle Sue.

04/08/2026

Three clever tipsters picked the round for Rd22 so scored themselves a bonus 2 pts. Gaye W, I suspect she does not pick her tips, Leah R and Graeme R were those tipsters. This puts Graeme R into 2nd spot on his own on 109pts. Cameron P and Paul T are still leading on 110pts and Maree H into 3rd on 106pts. Steve P has gone to 4th on 105 and yours truly on 104pts. Oh so close. On 102pts we have Christine R, Heather P and Jo F.
The all important sausage sizzle will be on Sept12th, the Sat straight after the final game for rd 27. So tipsters lock it in as this will be the absolute last one ever. Open to tipsters, their partners etc. It's BYO alcohol.
For Rd 22, the Roosters were always going to be winners but who would have thought by that much. Doggies had to fight hard for their win and i can't go past saying how well the Knights are playing as well as the Kiwis.
Rd23 starts Thurs night with the Titans playing the C'girls. Both had losses last week so will need to put in a bit more effort this round. The first game on Friday should be the T.V game , it's between the pesky Panthers and Kiwis over in Kiwi land. Go Kiwis. We have to watch the Roosters play Doggies in the T.V game. Go Doggies.
Mighty Manly play Storm in the first of the Sat games. Manly in their wisdom decided to take their home game to Perth. Go mighty Manly .Next up we have Phins taking on the Broncos, in theory this should be a Phins win. To finish off the night, the Rabbits take on the Eels. Both teams need the win, especially the Rabbits. Run Rabbits run.
Raiders take on the Knights in the first of the Sun arvo games. This will be a great game and too hard too call. The T.V game has Dragqueens at home to the Sharkies. An easy call that one. Tigers have the bye.
If any tipsters are looking to kill a few hours over this weekend, come up to the criterium cycle track in Junction Hill and either cycle or walk a few laps to help raise money for mental health youth in the Clarence Valley. Morgan Pilley will be riding/running for 48hrs to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 24hr event.
Tips in before kick off Thurs night, score sheets can be checked at Lochie's butcher shop and the main street bottle shop. Good luck to your teams and Manly if you are ever going to win against Storm, then this is it. Till next week, Sea Eagle Sue.

21/07/2026

Some games from Rd20 are better left unspoken about, except to say "there's always next week". Broncos beating pesky Panthers is worth speaking about. Recce Walsh for Broncos had his best game for a long time but Cleary is a protected species. He has been put on report before this game and got off so of course his lifting charge was not going to spoil his record. Perfect player, perfect person !!! It was a shame to see a few season ending injuries especially Warbrick as he leaves Storm and will join the Kiwis next season. I think most people were waiting for Turbo's famous hammy to go again. Hate to say it but, maybe time to retire.
The tipsters score sheet is stable, Cameron P and Paul T still in the lead on 100pts, Graeme R next on 95, Steve P on 94 and hot on his heels are David C, Maree H and yours truly on 93. Dave V is still hanging onto the wooden spoon.
Rd 21 begins on Thursday night with Eels playing pesky Panthers. Eels fresh off a bye and have seen that pesky Panthers are beatable, but I'm not sure it will happen again. We can only hope. Knights at home to the Roosters in the first of the Friday night games. Another game we can only hope for a Knights win. The telly game sees Rabbits play Storm. Both teams missing key players through injury so anybody's guess. Not that Rabbits miss Trell, he's hardly played for all the seasons he's been there. Time to move him on.
Raiders play Tigers to kick off Saturday games. Definitely not Tigers year. All the talk about Luai leaving has got to have an effect on the team. Doggies take on the Kiwis in the next game. This will be a test for Kiwis to prove they can win away games. Last for the day has C'girls playing Broncos. A Qld show down. C'girls will want to hang on to their top 8 spot so will be keen for a win.
Dragqueens play Titans on Sunday arvo. Titans have won a few lately so could add this to their list. The Sunday afternoon T.V game has mighty Manly at home to Sharkies. Damn i wish this wasn't the telly game. We can only hope that Fozball hasn't completely deflated. Phins get the bye.
Well tipsters I'm just letting to you that this is my last year doing the comp. I have been running a tipsters comp for over 30 years and it's time for a break. I have not lost any enthusiasm for the game but feel i have for running a comp. and doing a report. I have had a lot of fun doing this report but to me it's starting to sound boring.
Tips in before kickoff Thurs night, good luck to your teams and mighty Manly at home in Brookie can get a win without Turbo, it's all in the mind boys. You can do it. Till next week Sue eagle Sue.

15/07/2026

Congratulations to team Blue. They played well and deserved the win. It was so much sweeter winning in Qld and didn't those cane toads whinge and complain. Bad luck i say, we were the better team.
Round 20 already, it has gone so fast and it's still so hard to pick winners. Who would have thought that the Sharkies could beat the Phins by 66pts, ridiculous, of course Phins at home was a good tip, prefered by most tipsters. Raiders upset the Doggies, bloody Manly faded again and nobody knows why Garrick is still not our kicker. Fogarty was useless. Rabbits lucky to hang onto the win over a fast finishing Knights.
Why do players sign a 2, 3 or 4 yr deal, put in clauses that they can then leave whenever they like. Luai is the latest to pull this stunt but he's not the only one. Don't sign a contract then unless you're sure you will stay loyal to the club. Whinge done and dusted.
Not much changed on the scoreboard, Cameron P and Paul T even on 95pts, Graeme R on 90pts, Steve P 89pts and on 88pts we have David C and Sue P, Maree H 87pts and Heather P and Kerry D on 86pts. Dave V is our new wooden spooner.
This week's games start with pesky Panthers playing Broncos. That should be an easy win for the Panthers. Sharkies play Knights in the first of the Fri night games. Hard pick, Ashley Klein is reffing, that will make Knights supporters happy. The T.V game has Roosters playing Storm. Roosters for me.
The Raiders take on Rabbits in the first of the Sat games. Both had good wins last round and will be keen to keep it going. Next up the Kiwis play Dragqueens. Kiwis at home will be tough to beat. Last game for Sat is between Doggies and Tigers. Even without Crichton i feel Doggies can get this win.
Thank goodness the Titans playing mighty Manly is not on the T.V. That would be too painful to watch. The telly game has Phins against the C'girls. Phins are the favourites but after last weeks results, who knows. Eels have the bye.
Scoresheets can be checked out at Lochies butcher shop and the bottle shop in the main street. Tips in before kickoff Thurs night and good luck to your teams and mighty Manly, the game goes for 80mins not 40, so play the 80. Till next week, Sea eagle Sue.

07/07/2026

Go the Blues. It's do or die tonight, just to shut those cane toads up about their "pick and stick" and "Blues just don't get it" we get it alright, we just cannot always get the win. Lot of pressure on Cleary and Moses to lead the team but everyone needs to step up and play together and not too much individual heroics. We've got the players to win.
I don't know what's harder, trying to pick winners from 5 games or 8. Many tipsters could only manage one right but a few got three. Paul T has moved into equal first place with Cameron P on 91pts, Graeme R is next on 87pts then back on 85pts is Steve P and then Maree H on 84.
Games kick off on Friday night with Tigers taking on the Kiwis. Tigers season is not looking promising and not too many Kiwis in the state of origin, so it should be a win for them. Saturday afternoon start with the Phins playing the Sharkies. Both exciting young teams so should be a fast paced game. Next up we have Doggies playing Raiders. Both teams missing key players to state of origin so could go either way. Rounding off the night sees Roosters playing the slippery Eels. Roosters missing lots of key players and Eels coming off a big upset win over mighty Manly but I'd like to see an Eels win.
There are 3 games for Sunday the first being Rabbits against Knights. Rabbits got a flogging last week and need to pick their game up if they want to stay in the top 8. Cody needs to get rid of the chip on his shoulder and maybe with a week off he might. Knights have lots of young players who go 100 mph so a good game coming up. Mighty Manly play C'girls in the T.V. game. A bye for the C'girls last week will have them fresh for this game and Manly need tackle and play as a team. Last game for rd 19 is between Storm and Titans. Storm will probably have all their player back on deck and it's in Melbourne so a win for Storm.
Byes for Broncos, they need it, Dragqueens and pesky Panthers.
Score sheets can be checked at Lochies butcher shop and main street bottlo. You all know the drill by now, tips in early and before kickoff, good luck to your team and mighty Manly, please turn up to play and redeem yourself, do it for Foz. Go Manly. Till next week , Sea eagle Sue. Go the BLUES.

29/06/2026

Absolutley have no idea what happened to end of report but to finish off, scoresheets are in Lochie's butcher shop and the main street bottle shop. Please, tips in as early as possible and good luck to your teams and go mighty Manly, till next week Sea eagle Sue.

29/06/2026

So close yet so far. For a few of us tipsters that was the case when we picked 7 right and pesky Panthers let us all down. Not that I'm shedding tears over that loss but celebrating big time with mighty Manly winning their game over Storm. I feel that Manly are Storm's bogey team, every team has one. That team they should beat but can't.
Cameron P is still hanging onto his lead with 89pts, Paul T on 88 and Graeme R has moved into third on 85pts. Steve P is close on 84pts and then Maree H 82 and Kerry D on 81pts. Now is the time for the girls to make their move on the fellas.
Game of Rd17 had to be between Phins and the Kiwis. Listening on the radio it sounded so exciting and nerve wracking. Good to see so many close scores and not the blow outs that we've had. Injuries and state of origin selections will make a difference to our tips for Rd 18.
The NRLW starts this week on Thurs night and first up we have the Sharkies against the Knights. The Women's games are great to watch, no 6 again and clean and quick. The men's games start on Friday night with the Eels against the Rabbits. Both missing a key player to state of origin but on paper Rabbits for me.
Saturday night starts with Dragqueens against the Tigers. This should be a close game and worth watching and could go either way. Next up we have Broncos playing Sharkies. This should be a Sharkie win, they had the bye the week before and no one out for state of origin and Broncos with players out with rep. games and injury.
Sunday kicks off with Eels taking on mighty Manly. Easy pick for me despite Manly missing Luke Brooks with injury and a few players out for state of origin but Eels are no better off. Last game for the round is between Knights and Phins. Another home game for Knights and also on the T.V again. Players out from both sides but should be an exciting game.
Teams to have the bye are Doggies, C'girls, Raiders, Roosters, how convenient, Storm, Titans and Kiwis.
