My new least favourite person on the internet is this idiot Trace Martin | Golf Instruction & Coaching
I’d highly suggest getting your own coaching in order before trying to slam an entire group of coaches based on being PGA qualified.
He is right about one thing though, being PGA does not make you a good coach. There is only one thing that does, experience.
It doesn’t matter how many accreditations or certifications you have, you need to give lessons, hundreds or them, to realise how bad you really are at coaching. After the 10 year point you start to feel comfortable and then get humbled again, it’s constant learning.
We have an influx of these ‘coaches’ that have a nice swing, a decent handicap and are good at making social media videos thinking that’s all it takes to be a golf coach. The client reviews always show up the real story, this guy is one of the worst ranked on Skillest in a short space of time.
Have a look a look at the first page on skillest and all the thousands of reviews and you will likely not see another 1 or 2 star review and he’s got 2 in his first 50, speaks for itself really.

Reducing the ‘S curve’ posture.
Here’s a quick feel unlike to use to help reduce excessive curvature in the spine at setup.
Benefits of reducing anterior pelvic tilt:
- Spine/back health. Lumbar lordosis (larger curvature of lumbar spine) can lead to lower back pain and stiffness.
- Range of motion. A 10° increase in anterior pelvic tilt can result in a loss of 6-9° of hip internal rotation and a loss of 10° of hip flexion.
- Engages the lower abs and glutes.
- Creates a ‘connection’ between the lower and upper body allowing power generated from the ground to work upwards.
- Relaxes the setup position and alleviates tension.
Three key points you can learn from Tigers setup routine.

Be careful who you listen to online 🤡
Flat shoulder turn - Over the top fix.
This is a short clip from a recent online lesson.
If you’re struggling with a flatter backswing turn which usually results in the shoulders steepening in transition and forcing the arms and club outward, here’s a drill to try.

Online client progress.
I’ve been working with Ryan for 4 weeks now, completely online.
These are some of the harder changes we will have to make, shifting the mindset that’s needed to change a release pattern that’s always been there is tough, but this is some great progress.
This started with an initial free swing analysis before he committed to coaching. If you’d like info on how to receive a free swing analysis just reply ‘ANALYSIS’ and I’ll send the info over.
Creating width in the backswing.
This is a short clip from a longer online lesson.
Talking to a golfers who is struggling to create ‘width’ in their backswing by consciously trying to keep the lead arm straight.
If this happens I find a golfer reacts faster to thinking about creating the width from their trail arm instead.
Trying to reach your trail hand as far up the wall as possible will automatically create the stretch and extension of the lead arm.
If consciously trying to straighten the lead arm isn’t doing the trick, give this a try.
Side note, the lead doesn’t have to be as straight as you can possibly get it, some softness is absolutely fine.
My friend used to work on LIV and commented this on a previous Cam Smith putting video.
