Warren Saunders Insurance Brokers Grand Final Player of the Match 🏆

Luke Butler was safe as houses at the back and a constant threat with the ball in hand.

The big crowd, the pressure of a Grand Final and the magnitude of the moment didn’t faze him one bit. He took some huge shots throughout the game but just kept getting back up and putting himself in the contest.

And fittingly, he was right in the thick of it until the very last play, defusing a Joeys kick and taking the ball over the dead-ball line as the siren sounded.

A huge performance on the biggest stage.

Congratulations, Luke, our Warren Saunders Insurance Brokers Grand Final Player of the Match. 🐯🏆

Rugby league can be an emotional roller-coaster.

Before the high of Saturday’s A Grade triumph came the heartbreak of Friday night, when our Women’s Over 30s fell just short of becoming our club’s first female premiers.

After going through the season undefeated, our ladies were gutted. We know they felt like they had let the club down, but nothing could be further from the truth.

Just look at the support around them. Our younger girls had held their own poster and pom-pom making night, and they were there in force alongside the Tigerettes, proudly cheering on the women they look up to. Members of our A Grade side were also there backing them on the eve of their own Grand Final.

That support wasn’t there just because they had kept winning. It was there because of who they are and what they mean to our club.

A premiership would have been special, but one result will never define this team or change how proud we are of them.

You can always chase another premiership, but the pride, the bond and what it means to be a Tiger can never be replicated.

We’d take losing as a Tiger over winning anywhere else, any day of the week.

We were proud of you then, we’re proud of you now and we always will be.

You’ll be back, and we’ll be right there with you.

Ever seen a Tiger run a marathon dressed as a turtle? 🐯🐢

One of our Over 35s players, Phil Brent, is officially a Guinness World Record holder after completing the Sydney Marathon in 3:45:52 while dressed in a full-body turtle suit.

As impressive as the record is, the reason behind it is even better.

Phil took on the challenge to support the NSW Environment Protection Authority’s “Bin it. Or Bring It” campaign, raising awareness of the damage litter causes to our waterways and wildlife.

If Phil’s out there breaking world records, the question has to be asked: what are the rest of the bludgers in our Over 35s doing?

Congratulations, Phil. An incredible effort for a great cause.

Take a moment to check out the campaign and its videos. It really is an important message and one we should all get behind.
