Third Grade

Sunday brought history for the club as we celebrated our centurion. Captain Buddima Wijesundera scored a brilliant 102 (92), combining with Jinosan Jeyasekar 59 (92) for a 126‑run 3rd‑wicket partnership. Burrito Bar - Rockhampton, QLD - Rocky United Third Grade batted out 40 overs to post 8/215 against Falcons Third Grade. Falcons were then bowled out for 78, with Nirmal Wanasinghe 4/15 (6), and Randira Fernando and Malith Tharanga taking 2 wickets each, plus a phenomenal catch by Malinda Dissanayake to remove their set batter. Two bonus points secured.

Fourth Grade – Gold

Gold took on Capricorn Coast 4th Grade, batted first and set 168, thanks to a classy 50 (60) from Mandeep Baral (3x4, 2x6). Laxman Kafle 4/44 (7) and Suraj Pathak 3/32 (7) maintained composure with the ball as Gold emerged victorious in a thrilling match by just one run.

Fourth Grade – Red

Red earned a gutsy win with only 8 players. After losing the toss and fielding first, they bowled Norths 4th Grade out for 110, led by a brilliant spell from Chikku Chirayil Abraham 4/10 (5.4), with Shaiz Robert and Shibin Philip taking 2 wickets each. Chasing, Red scraped home by 1 wicket, built around a lone warrior knock from Anoop Eldose 34* (84) and a vital 31‑run last‑wicket stand with Shibin Philip 11* (35).

With brilliant support from Jinosan Jeyasekar, who made 59 (92 balls, 5 fours), the pair put on a 126-run 3rd wicket partnership and powered United to 215 from 40 overs.

What a gutsy win for Flavourin Rocky United! 🏏💪

A hard‑fought victory over Frenchville Falcons Senior Reserve Grade showed real character from the boys. Sent in to bat, we got a fiery start from Dilitha Kolonne with 25 (16 balls, 3x4, 1x6), before a calm, brilliant middle‑order knock from Uthayan Emmanuel 30* (25) lifted us to 179.

With the ball, Uthayan turned the game again: 6.5 overs, 1 maiden, 3/12, backed up by Nirmal Wanasinghe's 7 overs, 2/18. The final four overs were played with only eight players on the field, defending 29 runs—and the team still bowled the Falcons out for 152. A game‑changing direct‑hit run‑out from Nirmal capped off a huge effort.

Burrito Bar - Rockhampton, QLD - Rocky United Third Grade kicked things off with a dominant win over Cocobrew Brothers Third Grade White, grabbing 2 bonus points. Cocobrew Brothers Third Grade White chose to bat first and were bowled out for 93 in 35 overs thanks to superb bowling from Subash Sampath 3/7 (6), Malinda Dissanayake 3/16 (7) and Buddhima Wijesundera 2/12 (7). On the field, Lakshan Dissanayaka pulled off three game-changing catches.

The chase was clinical — the target was reached inside 15 overs for 3 wickets down, with Dilitha Kolonne 33 (32, 6x4s) and skipper Buddhima 32* (23, 4x4s, 1x6) finishing the job.

Rocky United Senior Fourth Grade Red also got the job done against Capricorn Coast Fourth Grade. Capricorn Coast batted first and made 146, with Red taking all wickets in 33.4 overs. Shaiz Robert produced a brilliant spell of 5/15 (6.4 overs). He then sealed the day with the bat, scoring 53* (83, 9x4s) as Red reached the target in 33.4 overs for 8 down.

Burrito Bar - Rockhampton, QLD - Rocky United Third Grade hit the road to Biloela to take on Dawson Valley Taipans Third Grade. After winning the toss and batting first, the boys posted a massive 4/270 from 40 overs. Another captain’s knock from Jeewan Bhattarai (74 off 72) set the tone, before a brilliant 112-run 5th wicket stand between Malith Tharanga (83* off 62, 2 fours and 6 sixes) and Lakshan Dissanayaka (21* off 40). In reply, Dawson Valley Taipans Third Grade were bowled out for 71, with wickets shared by Anushan Jeysankar (3/29), Malith Tharanga (2/9) and Saralan Satheeshwaran (2/10), securing two bonus points.

In Fourth Grade, Rocky United Red took on Cocobrew Brothers Fourth Grade. Choosing to bat first, Rocky United Fourth Grade Red posted 155 thanks to a classy 52 (46) from Emil Vargheese and a handy 21* (16) from Chikku Abraham. Cocobrew Brothers Fourth Grade were dismissed for 87, led by an outstanding spell from captain Lipin Kumar – 5/6 from 5 overs with 3 maidens, plus a run out – earning one bonus point.

Rocky United Fourth Grade Gold faced Gracemere Hotel Bulls Fourth Grade. Gracemere chose to bat and were all out for 99, with excellent figures from Bishal Panday (3/17 off 5.4 overs). Rocky United Fourth Grade Gold chased the target for the loss of four wickets and collected another bonus point.

Standout batting displays included a captain’s knock from Jeewan Bhattarai (73 off 41, strike rate 178, 13 fours, 1 six) and a massive 145-run third-wicket partnership between Buddhima Wijesundera (82 off 69, 13 fours, 1 six) and Rahul Sreekumar (76 off 70, 11 fours). North Tigers Third Grade replied with 4/199 (40 overs), with wickets shared by Jeewan Bhattarai, Buddhima Wijesundera, Anushan Jeysankar, and a fantastic run-out by Lakshan Dissanayaka.

Rocky United 4th Grade Red’s top order chased down the target quickly, finishing 1/85 in just 12.5 overs and taking 2 bonus points, with Ginu George unbeaten on 53* (40 balls, 9 fours).

What a win for Rocky United 4th Grade Red!

Our team took on Capricorn Coast Sharks 4th Grade at Cawarral Recreational Reserve last Sunday. After winning the toss, the Sharks chose to bat first and posted 9/206 in their 40 overs.

Rocky United 4th grade Red chased down the target with determination, reaching the score in just 32.5 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. A brilliant unbeaten knock by Ginu George (50* off 63 balls) and a captain’s innings from Lipin Kumar (47* off 33, plus 1/17 with the ball) anchored the run chase. Chikku Abraham also contributed, with a quick 25 (20) and 2/37 in the bowling department.
