York Country Doubles were held last weekend the 22nd/23rd of August and a very pleasant weekend was had by all.
The weather was kind to us with only a few sprinkles of rain here and there….not enough to dampen the spirits.
Todd Reynolds did a superb job of managing the Tournament with Maureen Knox keeping score and the referees were kept on their toe’s.
Saturday night dinner and also the morning /afternoon tea and lunches was catered for by Lauren and her helpers. The fact that people were going back for seconds for the dinner was a good indication that people were more than happy with the meal.
We continue to get comments from people that “we only come up here for the food” we all know that is not really the case but nice for the feed back anyway.
ANthony Nelson and Barbara Fairclough won the food raffles.

Congratulations to the winners Lachlan and Jenny Millar from Como and runner up Anthony and Dani Nelson from Dunsborough.

York Croquet Club held the AC Northam Trophy Tournament last weekend Sat/Sun 11th/12th July.
There were three players in all.
Todd Reynolds John Doepel and Geoff Longford
Todd ran and won the Tournament with John Doepel being runner up.
There was a very close margin between John and Geoff.
Congratulations to Todd from York Croquet Club

It was a bit chilly in the mornings but with lots of snacks hot beverages and good company it made for a very pleasant weekend.

York Croquet Club had a visit from some lovely ladies from an organisation of people calling themselves The Friendship Force.
They all came up from Perth for a couple of days and while here we treated them to some real York hospitality.
After playing a couple of games of croquet a cuppa and morning tea there was lots of enthusiasm for the game and wanting to know more about how to improve their play.
They returned home intending to return next year.

York Croquet Club has had a rather busy week.
Tuesday we held the club AC Championships which was won by Eric Ayling.
Wednesday 10th June we held the club GC singles championships with 8 members competing.
It was a long day with all competitors playing 7 games.
The Tournament was run and won by Todd Reynolds runner up coming a close second was John Bullock
Today the 12th we held the club GC Doubles with again 8 competitors.
The winners being Maureen Knox and Glenys Marsh.

Last Saturday 30th May York Croquet Club participated in an event called Yorkkids. It is an event run annually by the York Shire for the benefit of not only York kids but families also travelled from afar.
There was lots of activities for the children but our role of course was to introduce them to the game of croquet.
Those that participated enjoyed themselves
Thanks go to Kay for supplying sandwiches and a hot cuppa for the helpers much appreciated.

Last Saturday on a cold and frosty morning York Croquet Club commenced their annual Ida Thorpe Trophy Competition which is run over two days.
Some contestants even had ice on their windscreens.
There were 4 players in total with Todd Reynolds from York running the comp and also competing.
Eric Ayling was referee.
He seemed to be in demand a lot for his expertise.
York put on their usual friendly hospitality and everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner Saturday night put on by Lauren and Kay.

Congratulations David Squire from Moorabinda was outright winner.

York Croquet Club hosted the over 65’s Golf Croquet Tournament last weekend 14th/15th of March
We had a good attendance and lots of spirited play over the two days.
Weather conditions were very pleasant which added to the very enjoyable play.
Congratulations go to Simon Moran for winning the Tournament from Rob Sachse in a very close finish.
They both won seven games and Simon won on a count back of hoops run winning by one hoop.
Todd Reynolds did a great job of running the Tournament and Lauren and helpers did a fabulous job as usual with the catering.

York Croquet Club hosted their annual York Croquet Challenge every Tuesday evening in February.
This year we had four teams competing a few down on past years but the fun and competitiveness were still very evident.
The event was held under the direction of Todd Reynolds and assisted by some club members
The Croquet Challenge ended in a close finish with Sweet Treats ( Robyn and Keryn ) and Rippeys ( Jono and Tom ) finishing with five wins each.
The eventual winner being Sweet Treats with the result determined by net hoops.

It’s that time of the year again which means it’s party time at York Croquet Club.
This years New Years Eve theme was get dressed up or just come as you like and there were some fun outfits on show .
Eric graced us with his presence and it was lovely to have him there because as you know he has recently moved to Perth.
We played a couple of games of Croquet over the night with a twist at the blow of the whistle we had to change partners and the next game we had to change to hitting the ball while standing at the side of the ball instead of behind.
I personally found it challenging to play like that and have great respect for the early Croquet players who played that way in the old days.
As usual we played our obligatory first game for 2026 at midnight.
