🏆 2026 FNQ Women’s Association Interclub Champions! 🏆

Congratulations to our outstanding Half Moon Bay Golf Club Women’s Interclub Squad, who have been crowned the 2026 FNQ Women’s Association Interclub Champions!

The final round of the season was played at Atherton Golf Club, where our team secured 2nd place on the day to complete a dominant campaign. HMB finished the season on an impressive 166 points, an astonishing 32 points clear of second-placed El Arish.

Adding to a fantastic day for the club, we also celebrated some outstanding individual performances:

🥇 C Grade Winner – Moira Stephens
🥈 C Grade Runner-Up – Susan Henderson
🎯 C Grade Nearest to the Pin – Jeanette Olle

This championship victory is a reflection of the depth and strength of our women’s golf program. A huge thank you goes to the 40+ players who represented Half Moon Bay throughout the Interclub season. Every player made a valuable contribution to this achievement.

We would also like to thank the eight other clubs who participated in and hosted Interclub events throughout the year. The camaraderie and competition across the region continue to make this one of the highlights of the golfing calendar.

Special congratulations and thanks to the Far North Queensland Women's Golf Association for their excellent coordination and management of the 2026 Interclub season. Your efforts provide a wonderful opportunity for women golfers across Far North Queensland to compete and connect.

Congratulations once again to all of our players and supporters on a remarkable season. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and already looking forward to the 2027 Interclub season as we aim to go back-to-back! 🏆⛳

🏆 2026 LJ Ho**er Cairns Beaches Half Moon Bay Golf Club Championships 🏆

What an incredible four days of golf at the 2026 Half Moon Bay Golf Club Championships!

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who nominated and took part in this year's event. The standard of golf, sportsmanship and club spirit on display throughout the championships was outstanding. We'd also like to extend our sincere thanks to LJ Ho**er Cairns Beaches, our major event sponsor, for their support of this year's championships and for Nick Pelucchi at LJ Ho**er Cairns Beaches for presenting our winners with their well earned awards.

Congratulations to all players who claimed a daily prize or featured amongst the overall winners and placegetters.

Ladies Champion - Marion Wright (339)
Marion produced a dominant performance across the four championship rounds, posting four sub-90 rounds to finish with an outstanding gross total of 339, a remarkable 16 shots clear of runner-up Cecily Atkinson (355).

Men's Champion - Wazza O'Brien (295)
Wazza delivered one of the most memorable finishes in recent club championship history. Beginning the final round 7 shots behind, he fought his way back to force a playoff with Club Captain Ben Doggett, with both players finishing on 295 gross. On the very first playoff hole, Wazza hit a sensational drive to approximately 6 feet from the hole before calmly holing an eagle putt to claim the 2026 Club Championship title.

🏌️‍♀️ One of the unique challenges of playing Half Moon Bay is finding your way around the tree on our 17th fairway. Unfortunately for member Janet McLaren, it didn't quite go to plan this time, with her ball ending up in the infamous "post box"! 📮😂
