Meet the Founder

Drs. H.R. Tromp, MD is the founder of the Aruba Chess Academy (ACA).

He represented Aruba on Board 1 at the 43rd Chess Olympiad in Batumi, Georgia, the world's largest and most prestigious team chess event. Competing against players from around the globe, he gained valuable international experience at the highest level of team chess competition.

With more than three decades of involvement in chess as a player, instructor, organizer, and mentor, Drs. Tromp combines competitive experience with a passion for education and personal development.

He is also a FIDE Instructor and remains committed to developing chess excellence in Aruba through structured training, discipline, and character development.

Through the Aruba Chess Academy, he seeks to help students develop not only their chess skills, but also the discipline, critical thinking, resilience, and character that lead to success both on and off the board.
