Javokhir Sindarov Reveals His Ultimate Chess Ambition!

World Championship challenger GM Javokhir Sindarov has his sights set far beyond his upcoming match against Gukesh. The 20-year-old Uzbek says his ultimate ambition is to become the best chess player in the world.

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Sindarov explained that he has stayed active ahead of the November–December World Championship match. He believes regular competition against elite players is helping him gain experience and confidence. After the Olympiad, he plans to enter a focused training camp for the match.

“My goal is to become a 2800 player. Of course, the match is very important, but in general, I want to be the best chess player in the world.”

Sindarov also praised Gukesh’s strength and admitted that the match will be a major challenge for both players. He says his own preparation is focused on following his team’s work, remembering his opening preparation, and giving his best during training.

Interestingly, Sindarov believes enjoyment is essential to performing at his best. Even during the Candidates, he made time for Counter-Strike, explaining that relaxing helps him return to chess refreshed.

The young Uzbek has already won the 2026 FIDE Candidates Tournament and secured his place in the World Championship match. Now, he is aiming even higher.
