A proud milestone for the Erciyes Ski Resort!

The Union of Turkic Ski Resorts is pleased to share remarkable news from our esteemed member, Erciyes Kayak Merkezi Erciyes Mountain Resort.

Following the recent selection of Kayseri as the 2029 World Capital of Sport by ACES (European Capitals of Sport Federation), Erciyes Ski Resort has officially been invited to participate in the 2nd ACES Mountaineering Congress, to be held in Folgaria, İtaly, from 22–24 May 2026.

At this prestigious international gathering, bringing together leading mountain and ski resort executives from Andorra, Croatia, Finland, Italy, Slovenia, and Türkiye, Erciyes Ski Resort will proudly stand as the sole representative of Türkiye.

We are confident that Erciyes’ presence on such an important platform will not only enhance its global visibility, but also further strengthen the international profile of the Union of the Turkic Ski Resorts , showcase the collective potential of our member destinations, and create new opportunities for strategic cooperation across the Turkic world.

The Turkic Ski Cup has been successfully held with the support of the Organization of Turkic States and upon the joint initiative of the Union of Turkic Ski Resorts.

The competition took place at the Uludağ Ski Resort and brought together nearly 100 ski enthusiasts from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.

Organized for the second time, the Cup featured male and female participants who had registered in advance and competed in three age categories — 18–25, 26–45, and 46+. Athletes contested for first place in the Giant Slalom discipline.

In the highly competitive 18–25 age category, Sıla Kara (Türkiye) secured first place among women, while Aleksandr Tsvetkov (Kazakhstan) claimed victory among men. Mahmut Kazanc (Türkiye) finished in second place, and Muhammadali Asanov took third place.

In the 26–45 age category, among women, Nataliya Lapshina (Kazakhstan) won first place, followed by Elvira Zakarayeva (Azerbaijan) in second place and Buse Terim (Türkiye) in third. Among men, Jeyhun Balametov (Azerbaijan) claimed first place, Metehan Taşdemir (Türkiye) secured second place, and Talip Gülle (Türkiye) finished third.

In the 46+ age category, Ali Akgül (Türkiye) stood on the top podium position. Kamil Şar (Türkiye) and Ömer Saraçer (Türkiye) took second and third places respectively.

At the conclusion of the competition, winners were awarded trophies and medals, while participants received various incentive gifts.

The main objective of organizing the Turkic Ski Cup is to strengthen mutual cooperation among turkic peoples in winter sports, promote the organization of joint competitions, and further popularize skiing across the Turkic world.

It should be noted that Kazakhstan and Türkiye have nominated themselves to host the next edition of the Turkic Ski Cup.

A meeting dedicated to the role of ski resorts and sporting events in the development of winter tourism was held with the joint organization of the Organization of Turkic States and the Union of Turkic Ski Resorts.

Officials of the Organization of Turkic States and representatives of the Union of Turkic Ski Resorts participated in the meeting.

In his remarks, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Mirvohid Azimov, stated that cooperation in the field of tourism across the turkic world has entered a new phase. He emphasized that winter tourism, as well as winter sports competitions, play a significant role in the economies of Turkic States. He underlined the strategic importance of implementing joint projects, organizing common competitions, and developing unified tourism routes in this direction. Mirvohid Azimov noted that one of the priority areas of the Organization of Turkic States is to shape Turkic States as an integrated, competitive tourism destination operating under a unified approach at the international level.

Addressing the importance of strengthening coordination among mountain ski resorts of Turkic states, Secretary General of the Union of Turkic Ski Resorts, Orkhan Badalov, highlighted that the exchange of experience and the implementation of joint marketing initiatives would contribute to the formation of a common tourism brand in the future. He stressed that the Union’s primary objective is to develop sustainable cooperation mechanisms among member resorts, enhance service quality, and position the turkic world as one of the attractive centers for both winter and summer tourism.

Advisor to the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency, Kenan Guluzade, noted that international level sporting events hold a special place in the development of winter tourism and play a crucial role in increasing tourist attractiveness. He stated that, within the framework of cooperation established with international sports federations and organizations, the hosting of winter sports events has become an effective marketing tool to showcase the country’s tourism potential and has a positive impact on strengthening the country’s image. Kenan Guluzade also emphasized that such meetings create an important platform for deepening experience exchange among Turkic States, increasing awareness of events across member countries, promoting joint initiatives, developing a unified communication strategy, and enhancing mutual support.

During the meeting, participants discussed the development of a joint marketing strategy in the field of winter and mountain tourism among Turkic States, promotion of investment opportunities, professional training, expansion of cooperation, and several other issues.

Within the framework of the event, the official website of the Union of Turkic Ski Resorts was presented to the participants.

It should be noted that the Union of Turkic Ski Resorts, established with the support of the Organization of Turkic States, currently brings together eight member resorts from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.

Prospects for developing mutual cooperation among representatives of the Union of Turkic Ski Resorts discussed

From 21 to 24 December, a meeting was held among representatives of the member states of the Union of Turkic Ski Resorts with the aim of expanding cooperation and strengthening mutual partnership relations.

The event took place at the Erciyes Ski Resort in Kayseri, Türkiye, and brought together representatives of leading ski resorts from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the meeting, participants discussed the Union’s key areas of activity, the development of joint projects for the organization of sports competitions, cultural and gastronomic events, and the deepening of cooperation in these fields. Particular attention was given to joint initiatives in marketing and promotion, the implementation of coordinated advertising and communication campaigns, the creation of common promotional mechanisms through digital platforms and social media, and the mutual promotion of winter tourism products. An exchange of views was held around various proposals.

Speaking at the event, Orkhan Badalov, Secretary General of the Union of Turkic Ski Resorts, informed participants about the Union’s strategic goals and plans for 2026. He noted that, in accordance with the Union’s events calendar for the coming year, the Second Turkic Ski Cup and the Union Forum will be organized, emphasizing that these initiatives will make a significant contribution to further strengthening sports, tourism, and cultural cooperation among member countries.

Expressing his great pleasure in hosting this cooperation platform that brings together ski resorts of the Turkic world, Zafer Akşehirlioğlu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Erciyes Ski Resort, noted that such meetings not only expand the exchange of experience and knowledge among resorts, but also play an important role in promoting Türkiye’s winter tourism potential at the international level, establishing new partnerships, and increasing tourism flows among Turkic states.

As part of the visit, representatives of the Union met with Memduh Büyükkılıç, Mayor of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, as well as Şükrü Dursun, Director of Culture and Tourism of Kayseri, and Ergün Sezer, Chairman of the Anatolian Health Tourism Association.

During the meeting, Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç emphasized that the shared history, cultural heritage, and values uniting the Turkic world are being further strengthened today through sectors such as tourism and sports. He noted that hosting representatives of brotherly countries in Kayseri and at Erciyes Ski Resort within the Union of Turkic Ski Resorts holds special significance for Türkiye, and that this platform serves not only cooperation in winter tourism, but also the development of mutual trust, solidarity, and joint projects aimed at a shared future among Turkic states.

Within the scope of the visit, Union representatives familiarized themselves closely with the tourism potential, existing infrastructure, and services of Erciyes Ski Resort. They also visited architectural monuments, museums, and historical sites reflecting the rich historical and cultural heritage of Kayseri, and experienced examples of the national cuisine.

It should be noted that the Turkic Ski Resorts Union currently includes Shahdag and Tufandag (Azerbaijan), Uludag, Erciyes, Ejder 3200 (Türkiye), Amirsoy (Uzbekistan), and Shymbulak and Oi-Qaragai (Kazakhstan) as members.
