Beach Water Polo Masters Tournament in Barbados May 4th-6th, 2018

Our annual event got off to a slow start unfortunately, despite strong interest from over 6 teams internationally, we welcomed only 1 team, from the Hammer Water Polo Club in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

We still managed to have a great time and some fun games with our Bajan Water Polo, players both Seniors and Masters, playing many games with the Canadians and enjoying some fun social times in between.



We are very hopeful that our May 2019 event will welcome many more visiting teams.

We hosted our fifth successful Barbados Open Water Festival from November 1-5 at Carlisle Bay. Just imagine how we'll transform the location for beach water polo in just over six months! We're counting down until teams start arriving. Who do you want to bring to Barbados? Tag them below!

Lucky to have wonderful weather for the sixth Barbados Open Water Festival: Nov 1-5, 2017. Swimmers reported the conditions were excellent. We were thrilled to welcome swimmers from England, Canada, Wales, Poland, Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, Brazil, Australia, United States, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Netherlands, USVI, Trinidad, Antigua and Barbados. A record turn-out this year with 625 entries across four races: 1.5K, Just for Fun 1.5K, 3.3K, 5K and 10K. We had Olympians, World champions, Masters Champions, junior champions, elite swimmers, club champions, triathletes, water polo players, recreational swimmers, novice swimmers, pool swimmers, lake swimmers, sea swimmers - with one common denominator: all love swimming! Six years old to 75+ years. An enormous thanks to all the volunteers (at the check-in desk, on kayaks and in boats in the water, marking, time chip distribution, timing system operators, at the finish line and others who weren't signed up to be volunteers but chipped in when needed), the medical team and EMTs/ambulance service, the Police/Coast Guard boats, photographers and the helpful staff at our home base: Copacabana Beach Bar. Of course a huge thank you to our major sponsors: Chefette Restaurants, FirstCaribbean International Bank, Tourism Development Corporation, Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc, CGM Gallagher, Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association. We've shown you what's above the water, but you won't be alone out there in Carlisle Bay! It's common to spot turtles and schools of fish swimming by.

Book a dive before or after the tournament to explore the Bay and check out any of the six shipwrecks in the area!

THEN & NOW: In the 1950's and 60's, water polo was extremely popular at the inaugural Barbados Beach Water Polo Masters Tournament's location, Carlisle Bay.

Join us in beautiful Barbados for the inaugural Barbados Beach Water Polo Masters Tournament Friday May 4th – Sunday May 6th, 2018.

The tournament will be played in the magnificent Carlisle Bay and hosted by the Radisson Aquatica Resort (pictured below). This is an International tournament and open to teams from all over the world, the tournament is limited to 11 International and 1 local team. Teams are advised to contact us early to show their interest and book their spot. Each team is guaranteed 3 games in a round robin format followed by 2 Semi-Finals and a Final.

Visiting teams will be offered a complete Travel package which includes Hotel rooms at the Radisson Aquatica Resort, Tournament fees, Opening & Closing parties and any other additions requested like rental cars and local excursions.

This is a Men’s Masters Tournament and all players must be 40 years and over on tournament day.
Each team will be allowed 2 players between 25 – 40 years old.
