🌊 BLUE PATHWAYS 2026 – Applications Are Now Open! 🌊

Wet & Salty Adventure Sailing School is now accepting applications for Blue Pathways 2026—a community initiative connecting motivated young Barbadians aged 16–22 with sponsors who believe every young person deserves the opportunity to pursue a career in the marine industry.

Blue Pathways provides access to internationally recognised sailing training, practical marine experience, mentorship and career development for young people who are willing to work hard and commit to their future.

Whether your dream is to become a captain, work in the yachting industry, marine engineering, marine tourism and hospitality, or another area of the Blue Economy, Blue Pathways can help you take the first step.

Participants receive:

⛵ Initial sailing training and internationally recognised ASA certifications
🌊 Regular weekend sailing through the Wet & Salty Sailing Club
🔧 Hands-on boat maintenance workshops
👨‍✈️ Mentorship from experienced captains and marine professionals
💼 Career guidance, leadership development and industry exposure

Built around school and work

Blue Pathways is designed to fit around participants' existing commitments. Following the initial three-day sailing course, participants continue developing their skills through half-day sailing sessions every weekend, making it possible to participate while attending school, college or work.

A programme for committed young people

Blue Pathways is not a free sailing course. It is a structured leadership and workforce development programme that requires dedication, teamwork and consistency.

Participants are expected to:
✔ Attend at least 90% of all scheduled sessions
✔ Complete assigned study and practical training
✔ Participate actively in weekend sailing and workshops
✔ Demonstrate commitment, responsibility and a positive attitude throughout the programme

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, three sponsored places are currently available.

Each sponsorship is valued at BBD $7,780 and covers a participant's initial sailing training and ongoing weekend practice through the Wet & Salty Sailing Club.

We are also seeking additional sponsors who would like to invest in the next generation of Barbadian marine professionals and create even more life-changing opportunities.

⛵️ CACs 2026 ⛵️

Please join us in wishing our sailors the best of luck as they head off to represent Barbados in Santo Domingo this week. Yesterday Amabel, Savannah and Jo, accompanied by Team Manager Penny McIntyre, left for the games where they met up with Scott and Luis, our coach. They are so excited to get out on the water and we are sure they will make us proud! 🌊☀️

⭐️ BLOG SPOTLIGHT: 30 YEARS OF ILCA ⭐️

July 31st marks 30 years since the 1996 Olympic Games. These games marked the first year that the ILCA Standard class was a part of the competition, and saw Barbadian sailor Rodney Reader compete amongst the inaugural group of Olympic ILCA athletes. Since then, hulls from these games have been used in every aspect of our sail training programme, and we join the sailing community around the world in celebrating the anniversary of its Olympic debut. We are extremely pleased to wish good luck to the four sailors ⛵️ representing Barbados at the 25th Central American & Caribbean Games ☀️!! In just under a week, they will be racing against top-performing regional competitors, and we are sure they will represent this island with pride 🇧🇧.
