যদিও বিষয়টা মনে হবে ছোট কিন্তু এখান থেকেই গোড়া পত্তন...
ইংরেজি খাতার চার লাইনে আর বাংলা খাতার দুই লাইনে লেখার নিয়ম দেখানো হয়েছিলো গত সপ্তাহের কোন এক ক্লাসে ক্লাস থ্রিতে কারণ থ্রি থেকেই আমার স্কুলে শিক্ষার্থীদের বাংলা খাতায় ইংরেজি লেখার প্রাক্টিস করানো হয়।
এরপর কোন একটা ক্লাসে ইংরেজি অক্ষরের ফোনেটিক নিয়ে সামান্য হলেও ধারণা দেয়া হলো যাতে শুরুটা নিদেনপক্ষে গোলমাল লেগে না যায়।

বিগত ৬/৭/২৩ তারিখে আন্তবোর্ড সভায় গৃহীত সিদ্ধান্ত অনুযায়ী ২০২৪ সালে এইচএসসি পরীক্ষার্থীদের ২০২৩ সালের সংক্ষিপ্ত ইংরেজি ১ম ও ২য় এর পাঠ্যসূচি দেয়া হলো।

সুপ্রিয় নবম-দশম, একাদশ-দ্বাদশ শ্রেণীর শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য আজকে আবার connectors এর কিছু অংশ নিয়ে আসছি... গতকাল আমরা সংযোজন ও পর্যায়ক্রমের কিছু connectors জানার চেষ্টা করেছি। আজ আমরা জানার চেষ্টা করবো....

* বিয়োজন/বৈসাদৃশ্য বা অমিল (Substraction/Dissimilarity)- but, yet, still, though, although, albeit, even though, even if, despite, in spite of, nevertheless, nonetheless, nevermore, never though, rather, in stead of, on the contrary, in/on the other hand, whereas, while, or, otherwise, anyway

* তুলনা (Comparison) তুলনা সাদৃশ্য, বৈসাদৃশ্য উভয়ই হতে পারে যেমন- as soon as, nosooner had...than, hardly had...before, scarcely had... when, than, as far as, as long as, so/as....as, the more, the less, such, such as, similarly, likewise, in the same way, more, most, less, in comparisons to, compared to

নবম-দশম ও একাদশ-দ্বাদশ শ্রেণির linking words বা connectors:
মূলত, ইংরেজি parts of speech শেষ তিনটি অব্যয় পদ সমুহের মধ্যে conjunction সহ কিছু phrases ই linking words / connector হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়। আজ আমরা সেই সম্পর্কেই কিছু শেখার বা জানার চেষ্টা করবো।

১) সংযোজন (Addition) ও পর্যায়ক্রম (sequence) সাধারণত ইংরেজি অথবা যে কোন ভাষাতেই এক তথ্য থেকে আরেক তথ্যের মিল রেখে যোগ করাই সংযোজন ও পর্যায়ক্রমিক জাতীয় connectors ব্যবহার করতে হয়। উদাহরণ হিসেবে বলা যায়।
# To make a cup of tea at first* you have to take a pot with some water. Then* lightening the stove you have to put on fire for a couple of minutes to be boiled. Next* put some power of tea and* boil the liquor and* strain the liquid with a strainer. After that*, you can serve it adding suger, milk as per* taste or* without suger,milk. In addition to* you can serve some snacks with it too. For example* biscuits or* anything else.
এখানে এই * চিহ্নিত শব্দ বা শব্দগুচ্ছ গুলিই connectors. আমরা অনেকেই বলি গ্রামার সাধারণ ভাষা ব্যবহারে লাগে না। কথাটা ভুল, ভাষা থেকেই তো ব্যকরণ, ব্যকরণ থেকে তো ভাষা নয়।

এখন তাহলে সংযোজন জাতীয় connectors গুলো কি কি হতে পারে!
আমরা সাধারণত and, as well, as well as, along with, together with, either... or, neither... nor (অনেকের কাছে মনে হতে পারে এটা নেতিবাচক, কিন্তু নেতিবাচক হলেও তো সংযোগ স্থাপন করে!) not only... but also, both and, further, further more, again, moreover, however, well, besides, in addition to, including to, what's more, by the by, by the way, for example/instance, such as, like, instance for, in other words ব্যবহার করে থাকি...

এখানে পর্যায়ক্রম অনুসারে কিছু connectors এর নমুনা দেয়া হলো- first/~ly (~ এই চিহ্নটার অর্থ আগের শব্দের সাথে পরবর্তী বা পূর্ববর্তী suffix/prefix যুক্ত হয়ে গঠিত শব্দ 😁 অনেকের জন্যই এটা আজ নতুন! তাই না! আসলে শেখার কোন বয়স নেই, আমিও প্রতিদিন শিখেই চলছি) at first, first of all, in/at the beginning, second/~ly, third/~ly ইত্যাদি then, next, next to, next to that, after, after that, again, further, further more, added to/~that, last/~ly, last of all, finally, to concluded, in conclusion, at last ইত্যাদি। এখানে উল্লেখ যে একই connector ভিন্ন ভিন্ন perspective এ বারবার ব্যবহার করা যায়।

Aspects of Preposition
1. সাধারণত যে সকল পদান্বয়ী অব্যয় Preposition (Time) সময়,ক্ষণ,মুহুর্ত,ব্যপক সময় বুঝাতে বসে। তবে এর ব্যবহার কিন্তু ভিন্ন ভিন্ন ধরনের হবে, তা বাক্যটি বুঝে বসাতে হবে।
যাই হোক আমরা জেনে নেই কোন কোন Preposition Time বুঝাতে বসে।
at, by, between, within, before, after, during, in, on, to, for, from, since, through, throughout, over, till, until, around
Ex:

1. I will meet you at 5.30 p.m. or by 6 o'clock at your house on this coming Sunday after my scheduled weekend or within the next week.

উদাহরণ গুলো বার বার পড়ি, তাহলেই আমরা বিষয়টি কিছুটা হলেও বুঝতে সক্ষম হবো।

2. It's natural that during the summer it remains hot but the weather forecast says that since half of this month it will be more hot and be continued throughout the May.

Right Form of verbs:
Past Genera
ক) অতীত কালে যে সকল কাজ সংঘটিত হয়ে গেছে বুঝায়, ওই সকল বাক্যের হবে।
** আবার বাক্যের মাঝে যদি অতীত জ্ঞাপক শব্দ যেমন yesterday, once, one day, once upon a time, late/previous +time indicating words, since, long since, ago, long ago, many+time indicating words+ago etc. থাকে তবের বাক্যের tense, past indefinite হবে।
** Unreal past বুঝাতে যদি বাক্যে it is time/high time/perfect time, as though, as if, sub+fancy, had+subject, if+subject etc. এ জাতীয় শব্দ থাকে তবে বাক্যের tense past indefinite হবে।

যখন বিনয়ের সাথে কোন কিছু নিজের পক্ষে নিয়ে আসার জন্য প্রশ্ন করা হয়, তখন প্রশ্নের শুরু হবেঃ
Would you mind +(v+ing)+(me/us+ with/by/about)+ obj/(v+ing)+obj)?

Ex: 1. Would you mind giving me your pen?
2. Would you mind informing us about the closing of the market timing?
3. Would you mind helping me with your email address immediately?

Right Form of Verbs:
মুলত, রাইট ফর্ম অফ ভার্বস করার সময় আমরা গ্রামার টাকে মাথায় রেখে ভার্ব কে ফর্মড বা পরিবর্তন করার জন্য ব্যাস্ত হয়ে পরি। কিন্তু আসলে বাক্যের মাঝে কিছু কিছু ক্লু থাকে যার উপর ভিত্তি করেই ভার্ব এর পরিবর্তন করতে হয়। তবে সবার আগে সঠিক শব্দ বাছাই করেই তার পরিবর্তন করতে হয়।
যাই হোক নিচে কিছু প্রচলিত নিয়ম দেয়া হল (ঠিক যেভাবে প্রতিষ্ঠানে বা বাসায় পড়ানো হয় ওই আংগিকেই দেয়া হয়েছে)
1. Present Indefinite basis:
a) My father goes to bazaar regularly before his office going.
এখানে উল্লেখ্য যে,
ক) বাবা প্রতিদিন অফিসে যাবার আগে বাজারে যায়, অভ্যাসের বিষয় টা বুঝানো হয়েছে তাই।
*** যে সকল বাক্যের কাজ দ্বারা অভ্যাস বশত কাজ, পরিচয় জ্ঞ্যাপন করা, চিরন্তন সত্য বুঝায় তার tense টি present indefinite হয়।
খ) বাক্যের মাঝে নিয়মিত বুঝাতে নিত্যবৃত্ত বর্তমান বাচক শব্দ regularly ব্যাবহার করা হয়েছে, যার কারণে বাক্যটি বর্তমান বাচক।
*** বাক্যের মাঝে যদি নিত্যবৃত্ত বর্তমান বাচক শব্দ যেমন daily, always, often, regularly, generally, today, frequently, occasionally, every day/week/month/year থাকলে বাক্যটি বর্তমান বাচক হবে।
গ) যদি বাক্যের কর্তা Subject, 3rd Person Singular number এর হয় তবে verb+s/es যুক্ত হবে।
ঘ) সাধারণত যে সকল verb এর শেষ অক্ষর বা অক্ষর সমুহ s/sh/ss/ch/x/z/o/t থাকে তবে ঐ সকল ভার্বের সাথে es যুক্ত হবে।
ঙ) যদি কোন ভার্বের শেষ অক্ষর y থাকে এবং তার আগে vowel থাকে (যেমন play) তবে তার সাথে s যুক্ত হবে আর যদি consonant থাকে (যেমন try) তবে y উঠে গিয়ে ies যুক্ত হবে।
