The Independence Day Rugby Sevens Championship 2026, organized by the Bangladesh Rugby Federation Union, concluded successfully today at 4:00 PM following a day-long series of exciting matches.

In the competition:
🔹 In the men’s category, Bangladesh Army emerged as champions, while SR Rugby Club finished as runners-up.
🔹 In the women’s category, Bangladesh Ansar claimed the championship title, with SR Rugby Club as runners-up.

In individual performances, Anwaruzzaman of Bangladesh Army was awarded Best Player in the men’s category, while Mohsina Lata of Bangladesh Ansar earned the Best Player award in the women’s category.

The closing ceremony was graced by the Director of Sports of the National Sports Council, Mr. Aminul Ahsan, as the Chief Guest. He presented trophies and medals to the champion and runner-up teams of both categories.

Among others present were the President of the Bangladesh Rugby Federation Union, Mr. Abdullah Al Zahir Swapan; Vice Presidents Mr. Anis Uz Zaman and Mr. Abu Mohammad Sajjad; General Secretary Mr. Aktar Uz Zaman; Members Mr. Sarwar Rakib, Mr. Ferdous Alam, Mr. Ashraf Uddin Ahmed; Tournament Committee Secretary Mr. Sirajul Islam; Lt. Colonel Almgir Kabir of Bangladesh Army; and Circle Adjutant Zahidul Islam of Bangladesh Ansar VDP, along with other federation officials.

The first day was engaging and productive, focused on learning, skill development, and strengthening the foundation of rugby coaching and refereeing in Bangladesh.
