A delegation of over 75 senior military and civil officials from Bangladesh and over a dozen foreign nations, undertaking the 2026 course at the National Defence College, in Dhaka, made a study visit to BEI on 02 September.
The aim of the visit was primarily to interact with senior staff members of BEI to learn about its work and engage in a discussion on national and foreign policy issues.
The meeting was presided over by Amb. Humayun Kabir, President, BEI, Amb. Farooq Sobhan, Distinguished Fellow and Board Member, BEI, and Air Vice Marshal Md Shafiqul Islam, BUP, ndc, fawc, psc, GD(P). SDS (Air), National Defence College, and Additional Secretary Mohammad Shafeen, SDS (Civil), NDC.
Mr. Faiz Sobhan, Senior Research Director, BEI, made the keynote presentation on 'Bangladesh's Multi-Vector Foreign Policy'. The presentation was followed by a rich question and answer session.
Today's interaction between BEI and NDC is part of a long-established working relationship between the two institutions going back over two and a half decades.

Responsible Use of Information Essential for Social Cohesion and Peaceful Democratic Transition
Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) today organized a crucial roundtable discussion on "Responsible Use of Information in Social Cohesion". The event addressed the growing global and local threats of disinformation, emphasizing that the solution requires a united front from the government, media, civil society, and tech platforms. During the session, BEI shared insights from recent fieldwork where grassroots participants were trained in essential fact-checking tools (including reverse image search and AI detection) to counter fake news at the source.
Chief Guest Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman (Adviser to the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh (Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Policy & Strategy) and Special Guest H.E. Joris van Bommel (Dutch Ambassador to Dhaka) both underscored the urgency of dialogue and institutional reform to protect public trust.

Through interactive sessions and hands-on exercises, participants learned practical fact-checking techniques, including reverse image search, EXIF data analysis, image and video verification, web archiving, AI-generated image detection, and domain verification. The workshop also highlighted the importance of responsible information sharing, digital citizenship, and the vital role of youth in fostering social cohesion and countering misinformation.
Empowering young people with these skills is an investment in a more informed, resilient, and socially cohesive Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) is undertaking a research study on Bangladesh's future foreign policy. As part of this initiative, BEI President and former Ambassador M. Humayun Kabir today met with the current Executive Committee and senior members of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association, Bangladesh -DCAB, at the Institute's office in Gulshan-2, Dhaka, to exchange views and seek their perspectives on the evolving challenges and priorities of Bangladesh's foreign policy.

Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) organized a two-day Basic Fact-Checking and Social Cohesion Workshop in Jashore, bringing together young participants to strengthen their ability to navigate today's complex information ecosystem.
Throughout the workshop, participants explored the different types of information and misinformation while gaining practical, hands-on experience with essential fact-checking tools and techniques, including reverse image search, EXIF data analysis, image and video verification, web archiving, AI-generated image detection, and domain verification. The sessions also emphasized responsible information sharing, digital citizenship, and the role of youth in promoting social cohesion and countering misinformation in their communities.
By equipping young people with these skills, the workshop aimed to build a generation of critical thinkers who can contribute to a more informed, resilient, and socially cohesive Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI) organized a two-day workshop and dialogue on “Peaceful Democratic Transition in Bangladesh,” bringing together journalists, youth, students, political leaders and social activists.
On the first day, participants explored the information ecosystem, responsible use of information, and the fundamentals of fact-checking. Through interactive sessions, they learned how to identify misinformation and disinformation and verify online content effectively.
On the second day, youth participants presented their ideas and action plans to civil society representatives, demonstrating how they can apply the knowledge and skills gained from the workshop to promote fact-checking, civic awareness, and social cohesion within their own communities.
Together, these discussions highlighted the important role of informed citizens in fostering democratic values, countering harmful information, and building a more peaceful future.
