A two-days Executive leadership course titled “Prophetic Leadership: A Model for Ethical and Transformational Change” was organized by the Islamic Institute for Development & Research (IIRD), UK at Le Méridien Dhaka on 21–22 November 2025. Interport Advisory Services, the consulting arm of Interport Group, was honored to serve as the Strategic Partner for this course.

Over two days, participants engaged deeply with lessons drawn from historical examples, ethical teachings, and contemporary leadership theory, exploring 10 core Prophetic leadership qualities, including integrity, vision, courage, justice, wisdom, compassion, and spiritual intelligence. A highlight of the programme was the session on Spiritual Intelligence, delivered by Shaykh Sharif H. Banna, scholar, author, and Chairman of IIRD UK . Using practical case studies from the life of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), Shaykh Banna offered actionable insights for modern leadership across business, public service, education, and social impact.

The event attracted a diverse audience such as students, young professionals, development practitioners, entrepreneurs, and senior industry leaders, highlighting the programme’s wide relevance.

We’re pleased to announce that Interport Advisory Services, the consulting arm of Interport Group is the Strategic Partner in the upcoming Prophetic Leadership course. The course is organized by the IIDR (The Islamic Institute for Development & Research), a UK-based non-profit organization that makes Islamic knowledge and thought relevant to modern society. It offers educational courses, seminars, lectures, and conferences, and publishes research and educational materials. IIDR aims to promote a balanced interpretation of Islam and bridge the gap between traditional and modern perspectives.

This two-day transformative course, was first delivered at Queen Mary University of London and is now being introduced in Bangladesh for the first time, explores the leadership legacy of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) through a blend of classical Islamic sources and contemporary leadership theories. Participants will dive into 10 core Prophetic leadership qualities, including integrity, vision, courage, justice, wisdom, compassion, and spiritual intelligence.

Led by Shaykh Sharif H. Banna, scholar, author, and Chairman of IIDR (UK), the course will use case studies from the Prophet’s life to offer actionable insights for modern leadership in business, public service, education, entrepreneurship, and social impact. Shaykh Sharif H Banna is passionate about leadership and exponential social impact through knowledge, entrepreneurship and civic empowerment. In recognition of his contribution to civil society, he was one of the youngest recipients of a royal award (MBE) from the Queen of England.

At the recent “𝐒𝐚𝐲 𝐍𝐨 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫” seminar organized by Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) Bangladesh, Mr. 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐣𝐢𝐥 𝐀𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐮𝐡𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡, President of YoungShip Bangladesh, Board Director of the BSAA - Bangladesh Shipping Agents' Association, and Managing Director of 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩, spoke on the topic “𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬.” ⚓

In his address, he highlighted the long-standing issue of arbitrary “𝐍𝐎𝐂 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐬” demanded by certain charterers’ or declaring agents from owner-protecting agents. This practice had no legal basis under the Customs Act or Port Regulations.

Following sustained discussions and industry engagement, the BSAA, under the leadership of Chairman Syed Mohammad Arif, issued a formal circular on 15 October 2024 defining the proper process for issuing NOCs between Owner Agents and Declaring Agents.

𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑖𝑟𝑐𝑢𝑙𝑎𝑟 𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑢𝑟𝑒𝑠:
✅ NOCs are issued promptly when documentation is complete.
✅ Owner Protecting Agents perform only the services appointed by shipowners.
✅ Declaring Agents act transparently, without undue delay or arbitrary charges.

This proactive action, complemented by the committee established to prevent misuse of NOC procedures, represents a significant step toward integrity, accountability, and efficiency at Chittagong Port.

Mr. Ruhullah expressed his appreciation to 𝐁𝐒𝐀𝐀 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐨𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐝 𝐀𝐫𝐢𝐟 for his decisive leadership and acknowledged MACN Bangladesh for its continuous role in promoting collective action against corruption in the maritime industry.

Under his leadership, Interport Group became the first Bangladeshi company to achieve full membership in the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), placing Bangladesh firmly on the global integrity map and proving that ethical business is both possible and profitable. 🌍
