“Everyone has regrets and I do have it as well,” Taijul told reporters-

Bangladesh leading spinner Taijul Islam said that he is losing his sleep over white ball cricket after being ignored time and again by national selection panel while added that he is not ready to fill shoes of Shakib al Hasan.
“Everyone has regrets and I do have it as well,” Taijul told reporters when his attention was drawn about his future in ODI cricket.

“Yesterday the team (white-balls squad for New Zealand series) was announced and you must have seen. I don’t want to talk about it( my future in white-ball cricket),” he said
“To be honest I cannot do what someone else is doing and someone else cannot do what I am doing,” said the left-arm spinner when a journo asked him whether his role change when Shakib comes in for Test cricket.

“I always stay within my plan. Whether Shakib bhai is around or not there are other spinners with me and game by game the plan remains in a way that someone will take wickets and someone will contain the runs. If I was looking to contain runs in that case Nayeem or Miraj might have taken wickets. Whoever playing or not the important thing is that we are playing well,” he said, leading wicket takers of Bangladesh in Test since 2022 and second highest wicket-taker in Test behind Shakib.
Taijul credited the bowling unit for sticking to their line and length as the wicket did not crumble.

“The wicket was not that difficult in the morning but our bowlers bowled really well and they were in pressure after losing early wickets. I won’t say the wicket was bad,” said Taijul adding that he is not ready to complicate his bowling.
“I don’t take huge preparation and the only preparation is that to bowl in one area and how I can adapt and use my variations,” he said.
