NEW YEAR’S HIKE: special edition 3 koningen

Hello pretty hikers ! 🌼

We present to you: the New Year’s Hike: 3 koningen edition
And where else would that be than in the wonderful medieval town of Thuin. 🧙‍♀️

While everyone is enjoying the holidays, team DD prepared a nice walk in Bois du Grand Dieu 🐾 🎄
The forest is situated close to the “Abbaye d’Aulne” and will be the perfect cure for your new year’s hangover and set up some good resolutions for 2026. 💫

At the end of the hike, we will have appointed the King of the Day but let’s just say that there is a bit more to it than simply finding a bean in your cake 🏰
•⁠ ⁠However, we’ll keep things simple this time 👑

We will end the frosty walk with something nice and hot to drink in a cosy tavern in Thuin. ☕️

Behind the fences of Asiat Park, the past is resurrecting

There was a time when the grounds next to the cemetery - now known as Asiat - were the home of a military unit: ST/TTr.

- This unit had one single purpose: the maintenance and repair of transmission equipment.
But as more and more warehouses were rising, whispers of secret experiments began to stir.

Behind closed doors, a pioneering Italian scientist called Guilio Ulivi was said to be working on a way to transmit energy over vast distances without wires.
The section being strictly off-limits to ordinary soldiers, rumors soon began to circulate about some kind of experiment.

Even more so when the site was suddenly closed off to visitors and locked down for the soldiers present.

Decades later, a special task force was brought to life to discover what happened in that first half of the 20th century.

As commanders of this specific military division, your reputable research skills have come to our attention. And above all: your level of discretion in these types of operations.

You are being recruited.

🌿 Den Kemptrek – Wild trails & golden fries

Craving a breath of fresh air? Join us on Saturday 16 August for Den Kemptrek — a laid-back nature walk through the quiet beauty of the Kempen, led by expert guide and storyteller Thomas Gram (Natuurpunt). Expect winding paths, whispering woods, and fun facts about everything from moss to mammals.

We’ll walk, we’ll wonder, we’ll maybe spot a deer — and then?
Cold drinks & hot fries.

After the hike, we’re invited to Thomas’ place for a cozy drink and some post-walk chatter. Then we march on to a proper local frituur for the real reward: crispy Belgian fries and saucy snacks. Nothing fancy — just pure, deep-fried happiness.

Join us on our cultural hike to Villa Cavrois on saturday 12/04.
We'll be discovering this architectural wonder and deepdive into the mysterious history of this villa.
Afterwards we'll be hiking in the nature around Lille, what will the french spring have in pesto for us ? 🦔☘️

Den Doorslag 2.0 is back ! Roll up your sleeves and bring out your best smash.
You can join as a team or as solo rooky cap'tain. 🏐🏆
