One of our most important values:
👋 Beyond all the different variations of dances – there’s another thing all those have in common: they all bind people together.
👍All types of dancing serve as a way to connect individuals—whether it’s a brief encounter at an event or bar, leading them to form their own small groups outside of that interaction, or forming lasting friendship.
👌 On October 13th, Swing Connects organized an incredibly unique and inspiring dance workshop followed up by a short musical representation with Cedric, Sylvie, Ben and Aless. 👏
🫶🏻The mission behind the “Swing Connects” dance workshop is using more creative ways of building connections between people with different cultures who vied meet up through a shared interest.

We love to make people dance. It’s a way of bringing people together regardless of religion, nationality, sexuality, belief ♥️

« Black history is not only just about the past, it’s about the present. Black dancers of today are echoes of the past and visions for the future. It is easy to celebrate and romanticize the past, it requires less commitment than uplifting and creating real connections in the present. We are celebrating our differences within black culture through dance with the same choreography, each person displaying their personality »
Swing connects - believes in people. It builds up a community beyond the labels, beyond the colors, through the magic of dance and food.
“ Each human being has more than one identity. “Refugee”, “migrant” and “asylum-seeker” are only temporary terms; they do not reflect the whole identity of women, children and men who have left their homes behind to start a new life in a new country.
When we use these labels, we need to remember that out of the many ways in which people describe themselves, these terms only refer to one experience: that of leaving their countries. But the identities of these people are made up of so many more things.
Most people seeking to live elsewhere will feel that the experience of leaving their countries doesn’t fully capture who they are. Like all of us, they are complex and unique human beings and might choose to identify themselves as being from a certain country or region, belonging to a group that speaks a certain language or shares a culture. Or they might say about themselves that they are a teacher, doctor, artist, passionate football fan, father, sister, son or mother.” https://www.amnesty.org/en/what-we-do/refugees-asylum-seekers-and-migrants/
