Environmental performance is becoming an increasingly important part of construction product legislation.
Under the new CPR, manufacturers will gradually be required to declare environmental information, starting with Global Warming Potential (CO₂ emissions) and expanding to additional indicators over time.
What does this mean for bituminous mixtures and the development of future standards?

EAPA
EAPA is the European Asphalt Pavement Association. The trusted voice of the European Asphalt Industry
20/07/2026
Asphalt’s speed of paving doesn’t just save time—it saves fuel and money too.
Faster road construction means less congestion and shorter waiting times for road users. And with fewer cars stuck in traffic, fuel costs go down while emissions are reduced.

One of the highlights of today was seeing the official launch of Women in Asphalt Europe become a reality.
What started as conversations between a small group of volunteers has grown into a European initiative bringing together women from across the asphalt and bitumen community. Seeing so many people in the room supporting the launch showed just how much interest and commitment there is across our industry.
This is only the beginning, but it is an important step towards creating more visibility, stronger connections and new opportunities for women across our industry.

Imagine a world where the road beneath your feet helps save the planet. Too good to be true? Not at all. Asphalt is stepping up in the sustainability game, and the results are worth a standing ovation.
👷♀️ Recyclable? 100%. Asphalt is the most recycled construction material in the world. Roads are reused and recycled with less waste and fewer emissions. That’s what we call a circular economy in motion.
⚡ Energy efficient? Absolutely. Asphalt pavements are fast to construct and require less energy over their life cycle compared to other materials. That means fewer traffic jams, lower fuel consumption, and happier commuters.
🌡️ Climate smart? You bet. Thanks to technologies like warm mix asphalt, we can produce and lay asphalt at lower temperatures, reducing greenhouse gas emissions without compromising performance. It’s like giving the planet a breath of fresh air.
🧠 So next time you’re walking or driving, remember: sustainability isn’t just solar panels and wind turbines. Sometimes, it’s right under your wheels.
