Back from the Lipica Open 2026, where all the ingredients were there for a very good competition training camp, with a great welcome from the Slovenian Army.

The demanding Karst terrains allowed athletes who had never competed there before to understand the technical difficulty and the physical challenge of these very special terrains.

A special mention to Corentin, who finished 3rd in Men Elite over the five days of the Lipica Open. We also congratulate Corentin, Maarten and Tanguy, who achieved 3rd place in the Men Team ranking at the Regional CISM competition held at the same time.

We also wish our Head of Delegation Mieke, a well-deserved retirement. She was with us during the event and we thank her for her support.

At the end of 2025, here is the last Defence Championship.

This year was once again a very nice edition of the military orienteering championship.
Our podiums were once again taken by our BMOT soldiers.

Congratulations to Liesbeth Vdv , Maarten Vancoetsem and Bert Bockx for their Defence champion titles, and well done to all the participants in this rather busy race.

A very big thank you to everyone involved in the 1/3L for this excellent organisation.

Thank you all, and already happy end-of-year holidays to everyone.

Today marked the National Defense Championship in Leopoldsburg, an event brilliantly organized by the Camp of Beverlo. Despite challenging weather conditions, with falling temperatures and a touch of snow, participants came in great numbers to compete on a technical and demanding course where focus was key to success.

The competition showcased intense battles and numerous twists, keeping the suspense alive until the very end. Once again, the military team stood out, demonstrating exceptional skill and determination.

Recap of the 2024 World Military Orienteering Championships 🇧🇪

After 5 years without a major competition, our Belgian athletes proudly represented our country at the CISM World Military Orienteering Championships in Cartagena, Spain this October!

The event brought together athletes from 27 countries, competing on demanding terrain that tested both physical endurance and technical skill.
Our team showed great professionalism and impressive mastery on these tough courses, gaining invaluable experience for the future.

Performance Highlights :

🌟 Middle Distance:

Aurélie : 29th place in the women’s event. A solid performance finishing in the top 30 among such fierce competition!
Benjamin: 39th and Maarten 44th in the men's event, both finishing in the top 50, a great result at this international level.

🌟 Long Distance :

Benjamin finished 27th, landing in the top quarter of the overall standings (out of 161 participants!).
For the women, Aurélie (34th) and Liesbeth (35th) made a strong showing in the top half of the ranking.

🥇 Country Ranking :

Men’s Team : 11th overall, a fantastic result for our Belgian team, who beat countries they’ve never surpassed before!
Women’s Team : Strong results overall, though many countries came without full teams, which slightly affected our women’s final standing.
A great experience for our young athletes! Many of them were competing in their first international event of this caliber. An incredible opportunity to compete alongside professional athletes.

And that’s not all! These championships also provided a chance to strengthen camaraderie and international cooperation between the armed forces, celebrating the commitment of military personnel from around the world. 🇪🇸🤝

The last big competition dates back to WUHAN at the military world games of 2019.

Last week BMOT was at the Lipica Open in Slovenia.
At the same time, a CISM/R was organized during the first two days of the race, 12 countries competed at a world TOP level.
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia and Sweden.
We can congratulate Liesbeth Van de Velde for her 11th place and Benjamin Anciaux for this incredible 5th place during the military competition. The classification was the sum of the times Middle distance on Saturday and the long distance on Sunday, there were 80 elite women runners and 150 men runners.
Our team was made up of half newcomers who perfectly demonstrated that they had their place within the group.
They were able to discover the physical and especially technical difficulty of karst terrain. They were surprised by their rapid adaptation. Good for the future.
