An innovative educator, musician and kinesiologist, Robin Wes envisioned a nurturing place where children could explore their physical development while also growing socially, emotionally and intellectually. He opened the first The Little Gym in 1976 in Bellevue, Washington and infused those early classes with the same positive, non-competitive spirit that characterises us today. Forty years later

Did you know? Little feet contain thousands of nerve endings that help children explore and understand the world around them. 💛

Walking barefoot on different natural surfaces provides rich sensory input, helping to develop balance, coordination, body awareness and movement control. It's one of the many reasons why children in our classes enjoy exploring and learning barefoot. ✨

Looking for some simple summer fun? ☀️

We've loved this idea from The Little Gym Sofia, who have shared 4 fun barefoot games that are perfect for keeping little ones active while encouraging healthy development, no socks required!

❌ Myth: Music in gymnastics is just for entertainment.

✅ Fact: Music helps children improve memory, concentration, timing, coordination and listening skills.

Adding rhythm to movement encourages the brain to process information more efficiently while making learning fun. 🧠✨

That's why you'll hear plenty of music throughout our classes this month.

Have you noticed your child remembering songs more easily than conversations? Tell us below! 👇

Music activates multiple areas of a child's brain at the same time. 🎵

When children climb, balance or swing while listening to music, they're developing:

✨ Memory
✨ Coordination
✨ Language skills
✨ Listening skills
✨ Problem-solving

That's why our Music & Movement classes are so much more than gymnastics—they're a full-body, whole-brain experience. 💙

Ever wondered why children love singing the same songs over and over?

It's because repetition builds confidence.

Every time your child hears the same rhythm or repeats the same movement, they're strengthening memory pathways in the brain. 🧠

That's why you'll often see familiar songs paired with new gymnastics challenges throughout August.

Learning doesn't have to be complicated, it can start with one song and one smile. 💛

Save this post for another parent who'll appreciate the science behind the fun!
