How different basketball teams are managing their lineups. The participants: Real Madrid Basket, Баскетболен Клуб * Берое *, Basketball Club Levski Lukoil, Duke Men's Basketball, .
Obviously there are two main factors:
- The importance of the game. In the elimination games top teams are tightening their rotations/number of lineups.
- How well do you know/trust your players.

Quick look back on last two seasons in NBL (Национална Баскетболна Лига / National Basketball League). In order to quantify the success we used the methods from Scott LaForest The Nylon Calculus with some adjustments, according to the specifics of the Bulgarian League.
This is the simple formula called Wins On Investment (WOI). WOI is similar to ROI (Return of Investment) but instead compares wins to investments and is a measure of how well a team performed compared to the amount of salary. The formula for WOI is listed below.
WOI=(Adjusted Wins - Total Salary)/Total Salary.
Now to the main part of the formula, Adjusted Wins. Adjusted wins is an empirical equation based on the number of regular season wins and playoffs + national cup wins. International games are excluded.
AW=RegSeasW + 2*(PlayOffR1W + CupR1W) + 4*(PlayOffR2W + CupR2W) + 8*(FinalsW + CupFinalW).
The League average for AW we considered as 12 RegSeasW (50%) + 1 in each rounds, e.g. 26. The Zero line for WOI is considered as LeagueAW related to League average salary *(maybe future salary cup?).

*As we relied only on non-official sources for each team salaries - we can not publish those numbers, but still every team may feel free to contact us in order to check their numbers :)
** The salaries for Levski and Academic Sofia are split for 2017/18 season because of the teams transformation.
*** Some comments:
PBC Academic Sofia has 0% WOI in 2016/17 despite winning the title and negative in the next season.
Basketball Club Levski Lukoil is negative in the first, but the fresh money in the second were good investment.
Баскетболен Клуб * Берое * was the best investment in the country in the first season, but it turns negative last season.
rilskibasket.com - Rilski Sportist Bulgaria, Yambol Adamant / Ямбол Непреклонни and Balkan Botevgrad all improved their result last season, while Cherno more Varna and БК Спартак Плевен / BC Spartak Pleven are getting worse.
And maybe the best place for investing in basketball in Bulgaria is БК "Академик Бултекс 99" Пловдив/ BC "Academic Bultex 99" Plovdiv

*Updated with the stats from the first game between Bulgaria and Czech Republic in Botevgrad. While the Czech numbers are pretty much the same, the improvement of the Bulgaria's offense is significant. Just to notice that Aleksandar Vezenkov / Αλέξανδρος Βεζένκοφ didn't played in that game. Maybe he will be the X-factor in Pardubice?

A closer look to the first two games vs Portugal and Belarus.
- Team Bulgaria is holding their opponents to only 0.83 ppp, while averaging 0.95 ppp in offernse.
- Pavel Boykov Marinov was awesome at the offensive end and Bulgaria with him on the floor is averaging 0.99 points per possession!
- Alex Vezenkov assisted pretty good with 0.95 ppp while on the floor and averaging 14 pts/14 reb per game!
So exited to see Team Bulgaria today in Arena Botevgrad
