BCL was originally established as the JUNIOR CRICKET LEAGUE in the year 1981 The main Season Sponsors in the year 1981 were JOHNSON & JOHNSON and JASHANMALS.

BCL was originally established as the JUNIOR CRICKET LEAGUE in the year 1981 with Four teams - TCC, MCC, HILTON CC and BAHARAT CC. Junior Cricket League registered another four teams in the year 1982, which increased the total number teams to Eight. The newcomers were KARNATAKA, KONKAN SINGERS, PAK GOLDEN and YOUNG BOYS. YOUNG BOYS dominated the initial years by winning all major trophies from
