The 21st ACA Intra-Academy Chess Tournament was held at ACA, Zinj, on 16 October 2026, with around 60 students taking part.

This monthly tournament is exclusively for ACA students, with groups based on their age and chess level. Students played five rounds with a rapid time control of 10 minutes plus a 3-second increment per move. The event gave them an opportunity to practise their skills, gain tournament experience and learn from each game.

Start with one small thing to notice.

During a friendly chess game, ask:
💭 “What changed after that move?”
💭 “Which piece needs protecting?”

Give your child time to look, think and explain. Keep the challenge short and enjoyable, and offer a little help when needed.

At the chessboard, children can practise noticing details, comparing moves and explaining their choices—one move at a time. 💙

From his first moves at 4 to a FIDE Rapid rating of 1526 at 6! 💙 ♟️

In April 2024, Anyav Gopalakrishnan joined Arjun’s Chess Academy as a four-year-old beginning his chess journey. In the October 2026 FIDE rating list, he achieved a Rapid rating of 1526! 👏

In his age group in Rapid Chess.

Behind this milestone are two and a half years of consistent effort—around two hours of learning and practice each day. Puzzles, games, workbook exercises, chess videos and playing with other students all became part of his routine. Tournament experience gave him opportunities to put that learning into practice. ♟️

Congratulations to Avni Rajith, an ACA Bishop Level Student, for her excellent performance in the Hamda Bint Taryam Online Schools Chess Championship 2026–2027.

In the Under-7 Girls Category, Avni finished 10th place in Stage One and has successfully qualified for Stage Two.
Only the Top 10 players from each category move to the next stage, making this a very special achievement.
This is a wonderful result for Avni and another proud moment for ACA. 💙

PROUD MOMENT FOR ACA! ♟️🏆

Congratulations to Sanidhya Kumar, an ACA Queen Level Student, for his excellent performance in the Hamda Bint Taryam Online Schools Chess Championship 2026–2027.

In the Under-11 Boys Category, Sanidhya finished 5th out of around 900 players in Stage One.

With this excellent result, he has now qualified for Stage Two, as only the Top 10 players from each category move to the next stage.

This is a wonderful achievement for Sanidhya and a very proud moment for ACA. 💙

A Proud ACA Milestone! ♟️🏆

We are delighted to celebrate the wonderful achievement of 6-year-old Anyav Gopalakrishnan, who has achieved a FIDE Rapid Rating of 1526! 🔥

🇧🇭 No. 1 in Bahrain
🇮🇳 No. 8 in India
🌍 No. 30 in the World
in his age group in Rapid Chess.

Anyav started training with Arjun’s Chess Academy at just 4 years old and has been with ACA for the past two years. From learning and building his foundation to regular training, practice and tournament exposure, it has been wonderful to watch his journey and progress.

At ACA, we believe that starting young with the right guidance, structured training and consistent support can make a big difference. Every child develops at their own pace, and our focus is to help each student build strong fundamentals, confidence, discipline and a genuine love for chess.
