We want to recreate the energy and atmosphere from the days of the “Teachers Rugby fight nights” & likewise raise funds, for our burgeoning youth program!
I know in more recent years we’ve gotten used to upscale boxing events to showcase the islands premier, professional fighters.
We are elated to see that level of boxing in Bermuda once again.
And we are always grateful to fill the undercards, to make a great night of entertainment.
We just don’t want the public to forget where the now professionals got their start, or for up and coming amateurs to have to wait extended periods without testing their skills in a real setting.
We have a lot of talented young people who are training and working hard on their craft & need more regular opportunities to see what works.
We aim to take them as far as they want to go.
We don’t want to see any more of our youth get discouraged away from the sport because they aren’t getting the fullness of the experience.
So it would be in the best interest of the fighters & respective gyms to have regularly occurring events.
Pairing a youth boxing event with a bootcamp will pick up what Teachers Rugby started…
Creating opportunities for amateur fighters to have bouts, giving members of the community a chance to challenge themselves with a new way to get in shape & learn something new, as well as raising money for a good cause.
So sign up, tell a friend, come out to show some support!
This is the start of many more
We have a duty to the sport, to leave it in a better state than we found it.
We’re doing good so far, off of passion alone
We don’t have to wait for organizers to organize for themselves & ask us to be involved.
But we need the community behind us, as these events will produce the future warriors who will fight with the island on their backs.
