We had a great time with at Três Picos last weekend.

We had a great time climbing again with , who did his first multi-pitch with back in 2016. He is back in town, and ticked a couple of other Rio’s classic climbs on his list. With and . Thanks for climbing with us!

Based on our experience guiding climbers from all over the world during the last decades on Rio’s classic routes, I think we can say that it's not so easy to find climbers that would spontaneously say they really enjoy climbing chimneys.

is an exception, and it was a pleasure to take him on the super classic "Chaminé Stop" on the Sugarloaf.

The first ascent of the route was done in 1944 in a single push by Silvio Mendes, Guido Vergelle, and Rolf Vergelle. They used mostly natural protection, placing only 2 bolts in 230 meters of chimneys until the top of the Sugarloaf! All this wearing heavy boots and h**p ropes tied to their waists.

We had a great time with Evelyne this week on a last-minute trip to Dedo de Deus. December is not the best time to climb on Parque Nacional Serra dos Órgãos, and between El Niño and gobal warming, the weather here on the topical mountains is getting even crazier than it used be during summer.
Andrew and Eve left Rio at 5:30am by motorcycle, started the steep approach at 7am, climbed Dedo until the top by the classic East face route surrounded by clouds, and had just finished the last rappel at 12:30,  when a light rain started to fall
The ride down to Rio was another adventure,  not so much for the weather, but because of Rio’s wild traffic. They were finally back in town by 4 pm, feeling exhausted but happy about their good strategy, timing, and also luck! 30 minutes later, a strong rain fell on Teresópolis.
