Last ACFT - dropped a few points on some events, but finally maxed the 3RM hexbar deadlift @ 340lbs. Also surprised myself with a 13:18 2mi run (maxed out). 567/600 overall score. Age is just a number as long as you never stop moving 🤙

Quick thoughts

You don't have to crush it in every workout. Nor should you. Going balls to the wall every day is admirable, but also a recipe for overtraining and burnout. Yes, it might seem like that's what a lot of super jacked dudes do. A lot of those guys are also on the juice train to roidville. If you're after quick gains at any cost, then I can't help you.
However, if you want to build a sustainable fitness program and lifestyle that will result in a classically good looking muscular physique (in the neighborhood of 8-12% body fat or less) while still being able to eat delicious food - then step into my office.

Everybody has abdominal muscles. If you didn't, the contents of your abdominal cavity would probably spill out every time you take a step. Whether you can see your abdominal muscles depends on how often you use them and how much adipose (fat) tissue you have covering them.
The "six-pack muscle" is called the re**us abdominis and runs from the bottom of the ribcage to your p***c bone. But there are a number of other muscles that run in different directions to make up the abdominal wall. When you exercise these muscles properly they provide a strong core to keep you safe from injuries.
Little known fact - you're abdominal muscles can often contribute to back pain if they are weak, tight, or overly stretched.

One thing I do try to do consistently is wake up early. I remember a time in basic training when our Drill Sergeants woke us up at 3AM and told us to get all our gear on. We went outside in the middle of a thunderstorm and spent the next two hours sprinting across a field and low crawling up and down this muddy hill. It sounds sh*tty, but I remember one of the Drill Sergeants told us to think about all the people asleep in their beds doing nothing while we were up and at it busting ass. Yeah, we were cold and sucking - but we were also getting stronger while everybody else was asleep.

Focus on the process, not the outcome. You've got to start loving the process because you may be in for a long haul. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither were you. Fitness is a lifestyle, not a destination. There's only one way to get where you want to go

Your mindset is everything 🧠
Don't complain - do the work. The only person responsible for your situation and your mindset is yourself. If you look at fitness as a chore, it's never going to become a productive part of your life. And if you really can't find any physical activities you enjoy then you're going to have to find a way to change your mindset or accept being a couch-potato and all that comes with it 🤷♂️

Some days you just aren't going to feel like training. That's ok. I believe in listening to your body. Take a well deserved day off and get back at with vigor tomorrow. But, if you're consistently feeling like you don't want to train - then it's time to do some self-examination. Are you chronically low on energy? Is your workout routine getting boring? Are you overtraining?
Diagnose the problem and adjust. If the program isn't working for you don't stick to it blindly.
