I’ve learned that most times when someone says “I don’t eat a lot”, what they really meant to say is “I don’t eat often. They usually confuse frequency with volume. They’re speaking to how many times they ate that day and not the amount of calories consumed that day. Clarifying the difference for them helps them to understand why they may not be losing weight like they expect to. One can eat one meal a day and still consume more calories than needed, all because they didn’t consider food portions and food density. Eating less frequently doesn’t always equate to eating less calories.

I have the utmost respect for a fit mom. She has more excuses not to live a healthy lifestyle than most people, but still makes it happen. After having kids she has to deal with:

postpartum stress
Getting up early to bathe and get them ready, while having to get herself ready.
Getting them ready for bed at night, then having to prepare herself for bed.
Cooking/Making sure they eat, which can be a fight.
Finding time to spend with them
Dealing with their fussiness
Helping with homework
Nurturing them physically, emotionally and spiritually.
And she gatta go to work everyday.

This multiplies if she has more than one. Lord help her if she has a husband/boyfriend who acts like a baby so she gatta do these things for him too 🙄.

When I see her, I don’t just see a mom, I see a woman with strength, focus, discipline, who knows the meaning of self love. Who realizes that there are people depending on her to show up as her best self! I’m proud of you moms that make the time for yourselves to get active, and eat healthy. YALL JAMMIN STILL.

If you’re single with no children and struggling to live a healthy lifestyle, what’s your excuse? Do you really have any, or you just lack priorities?

I’ve heard ppl say “we’re gonna die anyway so you may as well eat whatever you want.” Or you might’ve heard “life is short, enjoy whatever food you want.” The 1st phrase of each saying is absolutely true. We’re all gonna die and life is indeed short. What they’re not saying (maybe they haven’t realized), is that most ppl who ate whatever they wanted during most of their lives die a different kind of death. So many who’ve made bad food choices for long periods of time end with a non communicable disease, sometimes more than one, and they die. These deaths happen daily, we just don’t hear about them. We just see a death notice in the newspapers or hear about it in the media. Sadly the majority of these ppl die slow, painful, miserable deaths. They suffer for weeks, months, sometimes years before they die. Usually after spending all their money on hospital bills and medication, while love ones pray and mourn for them daily. Having cookouts and go fund me to raise money for their expenses, feeling hopeless, abandoned with long, lonely nights, laying in regret for the food choices they made.
So I agree, life is short and we’re all gonna die. Death is inevitable, but I honestly believe some are premature. Some weren’t called home by the Lord, they chose to go home by eating whatever and whenever they wanted. We’re all gonna die, yes, but we won’t all die the same.
Rip to those that have passed through this process. 🙏🏾.
To those that are still here and walking this path, you already know what the end looks like, you’ve seen it happen to so many others. Some of you have been lucky enough to get a doctor’s warning, some won’t have that privilege. Save yourself, make better food choices. Your family and friends and your future are depending on you.

Losing Belly Fat

If you workout and eat healthy, but nothing is changing… fix these and watch your waist shrink.

1. You're eating too much. Not carbs. Not age. Not genetics. Calories are the biggest reason your belly isn't budging. That's the truth nobody wants to hear.

2. Stop doing crunches and start eating better. Abs don't show up in the gym. They show up in the kitchen. Train your core for strength 2-3x a week like any other muscle. Reveal it by fixing your food.

3. Your stomach is supposed to be stubborn. It's the first place fat goes and the last place it leaves. If you're shrinking everywhere else, you're winning. Keep going longer than feels logical.

4. Be brutally honest about how long this will take. You think it'll take 2 months. It might take 6. Underestimating the timeline is what keeps most people stuck. Make peace with that number and commit anyway.

5. "Healthy" labels are lying to you. Organic cookies are still cookies. Keto ice cream is still ice cream. Labels don't burn fat. Simple foods do: chicken, eggs, rice, veggies. Eat boring. Get lean.

6. This is bigger than your belly. Lose the fat and you fix your blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, sleep, joints, and hormones. Don't just do it for the mirror. Do it for how you feel waking up every morning.

Your belly is a kitchen problem. You cannot out-train a bad diet. It doesn't matter how hard you work in the gym if your nutrition is off. Fix your plate and your stomach follows.

Do it for someone bigger than yourself. The most powerful goal isn't a number on the scale. It's showing up as the healthiest, strongest version of yourself for the people who need you. Your transformation will give them permission to start theirs.

So many men/women over 40 — and especially over 50 — walk into the gym thinking they’re trying to “get back” to something.
Back to a number on the scale.
Back to a body from decades ago.
Back to the version of themselves before kids, careers, stress, or life happened.

But training now isn’t about going backward.
It’s about building forward.

Strength training after 50 isn’t about vanity — it’s about vitality.
It’s about protecting your bones, your muscle, your balance, your independence, and your confidence.
It’s about being able to carry groceries, lift suitcases, play with grandkids(kids for me), and get up off the floor without hesitation.

You’re not late.
You’re not behind.
And you don’t need to chase a 20-year-old body to be proud of the one you’re building now.

Muscle is your retirement plan.
Mobility is your insurance policy.
Consistency is your superpower.

Every workout is a deposit into the future version of you — the woman/man who still moves well, feels strong, stands tall, and refuses to fade quietly into aging.

You’re not training to relive your past.
You’re training to protect your freedom, your health, and your future. 💪

It’s not that hard

While what you eat is important, how much you eat is just as important because you can eat healthy and still overeat. Eating a balanced diet of protein, carbs and fiber is essential to losing weight, building muscle and maintaining your health

If you have Type 2 diabetes, your meals better be looking like this. The way you eat, will speak loudly, even when you’re not speaking. Your food tells on you, through your weight, your energy, how often you get sick, your skin, your attitude, even your thinking. My clients already know it makes no sense lying to me, cause I already know.
