Bahamas Archery Federation travels deep into South America and bring home an historic bronze medal

From March 25 to March 31 Team Bahamas, a seven member team of the Bahamas Archery Federation competed at the 2024 South American Championships world ranking event. This was the first of four world ranking events Team Bahamas hopes to travel to over the next three months. World ranking events are tournaments that assign world ranking points to archers in the various categories of competition.

LeRon Rolle, age 18, won a bronze medal in the under 21 compound men division. He fought through several elimination rounds and the rain to become the first Bahamian archer to win a medal at a world ranking level tournament. President of the Bahamas Archery Federation, David Rahming said “We are very proud of LeRon and we congratulate him on his accomplishment. He has worked very hard and has been close to pushing through to the podium for some time now. We hope this will provide him with the confidence and desire to take his development to even higher levels.”

Other members of Team Bahamas included Dario Higgs and David Rahming, who competed in the recurve men 50+ category, Rachel Taylor Brown who competed in the compound women and Alexio Brown who competed in the compound men division, Lisa Stovel Rolle who served as team coach and Erin Brown who served as team manager. The next tournaments for Team Bahamas are the Continental Olympic Qualifier and Pan American Championships scheduled for April 7 to April 15 in Medellin Colombia.

The Bahamas Archery Federation is actively pursuing the addition of new members to the national team. Carifta Archery trials are scheduled for June to select a team to represent The Bahamas at the 6th Caribbean Developmental Championships scheduled for July 10-14 in Jamaica. Persons interested in joining the Federation can contact the President at 525-3799. The Bahamas Archery Federation is grateful to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture and the Bahamas Olympic Committee for assistance in making this trip possible.
