R&A Junior Open 2024, Scotland Bound 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ✅

A huge congratulations goes to student for his victory this weekend in the R&A Junior Open Qualifier here at Albany Bahamas.

This victory has earned Aidan a place to represent the Bahamas 🇧🇸 in the 2024 R&A Junior Open, on July 15th - 17th 2024 at Kilmarnock (Barassie) GC, Scotland.

Congratulations Aidan, we are incredibly proud of you and your fantastic achievement and going in to represent your Country! 👏🏽

HJGT Palm Beach County Junior Open, Village GC

The second international Academy trip of 2024, and again another huge success for the 12 students competing in Florida.

Village GC posed a real challenge for players last weekend testing their ability to learn the course and adapt their game plan to find a way to manage the challenges presented. With very tight fairways, undulating greens and lots of dog legs this made Village a strategically difficult golf course to navigate round.

Congratulations goes to all our players for the mannerisms and spirit in which they all played and represented Albany Golf Academy.

Girls 14–18 Category
🏆 Amelie Zalsman winning with rounds of 71,70 finishing on -3 for the tournament. Amelie demonstrated tremendous ball striking throughout the tournament and a very disciplined strategy allowing her to navigate a very tricky golf course in breezy conditions.

Boys 14-15 Category
🏆 Kerrington Rolle achieved his 3rd victory in a row of HJGT tournaments, a brilliant achievement and even when fighting with his game over the two days he demonstrated tremendous mental toughness to pick up the win.

🥈 A special mention goes to Roisin Scanlon who this was her first experience of an Albany Academy trip and finished in 2nd place. Congratulations Roisin on a fantastic first tournament.

HJGT Palm Beach Junior Open at Park Ridge GC 🏆⛳️
Once again Albany Golf Academy students had a very successful weekend, this time at the HJGT Palm Beach Junior Open.

Sadly the trip started with significant disruption caused by a 6+ hour flight delay and practice rounds had to be cancelled with no way to see the golf course before the tournament began! Although this is not something we would ever wish for, it is something that was out of our control and happens in life and the only positive is that it meant that our students had to quickly adapt to the situation and use knowledge, information collected, past experiences and importantly information we had provided our students during training back at Albany Bahamas to help them adapt.

With winds reaching 30 MPH and very cold weather conditions throughout both days, our students had to adapt and prepare themselves for the challenge that lay ahead. The golf course was challenging, with many blind tee shots and firm small greens!

We are extremely proud of all students but special mentions must go to our two winners! Many congratulations to Grace Crawford (Girls 14-18 Division) with a winning margin of an impressive 9 shots and to Kerrington Rolle (Boys 14-15 Division) who managed to get the job done with a birdie on the last to win by two! 👏🏽

Overall, the weekend has seen our students have to adapt and overcome challenges, obstacles and barriers that were presented throughout, providing wonderful learning opportunities. We look forward to continuing the work with our students when we return to Albany Bahamas. Well done everyone once again! 😁👏🏽
