Dorji Dema Archery Coaching is run by Dorji Dema and her husband Sherab Dorji. Dorji Dema was one of the first few Bhutanese female professional archers with the Bhutan Archery Federation (BAF) squad in 2001 and had a meaningful career that spanned over 7 years. She proudly represented Bhutan alongside her team bringing home several team and individual medals for Bhutan including silver in the Asian Archery Grand Prix in Bangkok, Thailand in 2003, bronze in Asian Archery Grand Prix in Bangkok, Thailand in 2007, silver in South Asian Games in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2006, 1 team silver and 3 individual silver medals at the South Asian Archery Championship in India 2008. She also represented Bhutan in several other international tournaments in Bangladesh, Germany, South Korea, Hongkong,Vietnam,Malaysia,Qatar and finally achieved her dream of representing her country at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in China. Her husband, Sherab, was born and raised in Bumthang, a place that is rich in religious Buddhist sites and cultural practices. Like Dorji Dema, Sherab was also one of the archers at the BAF until 2007. Along with his team mates he proudly participated for Bhutan in several international tournaments in Vietnam, Myanmar, Bangladesh and India. In addition, Sherab has years of experience as a tour guide and also has excellent knowledge of traditional Bhutanese cuisine is a much sought after free-lance tour guide in Bhutan specialising in bird-watching and trekking tours. It was during their days at the BAF where they met each other and married in 2006. After a meaningful career, both Dorji Dema and Sherab Dorji resigned from their careers and started a homestay (Facebook and Instagram @dorjidemahomestay) located at Lamgong, Paro with their children. The homestay was sustaining well until the Covid-19 pandemic that heavily impacted the tourism sector in Bhutan. A Hopeful Future:

With tourism sector severely hit by the pandemic in Bhutan, Dorji Dema lost her only source of income and Sherab is among thousands of tour guides in Bhutan who are currently unemployed. While, most would see this as a challenge, Dorji Dema and Sherab Dorji saw the pandemic as an opportunity to rekindle their passion for archery. With no source of income coming in through their homestay, where they invested most of their savings, Sherab decided to seek help from former BAF colleague who runs Yeewong Norter Archery in Thimphu. Sherab is now trained in providing professional archery related services together with his wife.
