Norter Bodybuilding Championship

Yesterday meeting was quite successful with the immense support from our Executive Committee members, gym owners and senior athletes.

Minutes of the meeting:

1. Most of the Gym owners agreed to be affiliated with Bhutan Bodybuilding Association (BBA) by paying annual membership fees of Nu.10,000 and most contributed even more. The non affiliated gyms are prohibited from taking part in the events and competitions organised by BBA and BOC.

2. Those athletes and competitors from non affiliated gyms, who wish to compete in the upcoming Mr Bhutan championship are welcome to participate but need to pay the registration fees of Nu.3,000 each during the registration time. Other competitors from affiliated gyms shall pay only Nu.1,000 as registration fees.

3. The main agenda of the meeting was sponsorship and how to raise funds. For funding and the strength of BBA, we have 4 Vice Presidents. The Association Vice President Chencho from Active Fitness contributed Nu.50,000 and another Nu.10,000 separately as gym affiliation fees. The Vice President Sonam Phuntsho, CEO of Norter Group of Companies contributed Nu.50,000 each. Another Vice President Ugyen Tashi, young and successful businessmen contributed Nu.10,000 and agreed to give cash or kind to all top 5 winners from each categories.

Dragon Fitness agreed to donate Nu.20,000 as affliation fees. The World Champion, Thinley Wankay Dorji will also donate Nu.10,000 despite his continuous support and dedicated service to BBA during the championships. The senior most trainer Sonam Tobgay will also coordinate among trainers to raise funds for the association. The Organising Committee will further look for more sponsors and ways to generate funds. 4. The 2022 Mr Bhutan Organising Committee is finally formed. They are VP Chencho, VP Ugyen Tashi, GS Gyeltshen Wangdi and Executive member Thinley Wangkay Dorji will coordinate all necessary activities for the championship.

5. The Judges for Mr Bhutan 2022 are nominated after intense discussion among the athletes and members present. In order to avoid complaints and conflict of interest, the selected judges are all agreed and nominated by the members present. The judges are

- Ata Wangchuk, Master's Champ, Paro
- Tshewang Dorji, Senior Most Trainer, Muscle Factory
- Tshewang Penjor, Asian/World Licensed Judge
- Sonam Tobgay, Senior Most Trainer
- Tashi Tshokey, Physique Champ

The judges meeting and judging criteria discussion among athletes and judges will be organised soon.

6. The winner of Mr. BHUTAN 2022 will represent Bhutan during the World Bodybuilding Championship in December at Thailand. If budget permits, the winner of Men's Physique and Ladies Model Physique will also represent the country. However, those who wish to bear their own expenses are also allowed to represent provided they need to get an approval from BBA.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Bhutan Bodybuilding Association was conducted on 7th January 2022 at Bhutan National Bank Conference Hall. The Honorable President chaired the meeting along with other Executive Committee members, gym owners and athletes. The minutes of the meeting are detailed below. All decisions and outcome of the meeting were unanimously agreed by all the members present.

1. The 11th National Bodybuilding Championship, Mr. Bhutan 2022 will be held on 25th June 2022. The categories are; Open Men Bodybuilding, Men's Sports Physique and Ladies Model Physique. In the event of more senior level competiors (age above 45yrs), the Master Category will be introduced. The venue will be announced later.

2. All gym across the country must be affiliated with BBA. The affiliation fees is Nu.10,000 yearly minimum, maximum no ceiling. Once affiliated with BBA, all their gym members are qualified to represent their gym and compete in BBA organised championships and seminars. Affiliated gym owners will have one voting rights and join in the decision making of the association. Important! If concern gym does not wish to be affiliated with BBA, then their members are not allowed or eligible to compete or attend the BBA organised events and championships. BBA will strictly monitor this and also provide affiliated gyms with affiliation certificates and other incentives.

3. The members also discussed about the seed money of the association as BBA has zero account balance. All agreed to contribute as per their capacity and willing to look for sponsors.

4. BBA will come up with some regulations for the personal trainers who are giving training at various gyms. Association will work with all the trainers to provide them with some certifications and make them more qualified and professional in their personal training field.

5. The Honorable President put up his resignation during the meeting. At the moment, the association is going through a very difficult times and all the members requested Dasho to continue till BBA gets a capable President and Mr.Bhutan 2022 championship gets over. Dasho agreed to stand by strong with BBA.

6. General Secretary, Kencho Wangdi wants to resign since last year but all members requested him to continue with the post till we find a suitable GS. During the meeting all the members requested Gyeltshen Wangdi to become the GS and upon so much request he finally agreed to give his best for association. The President as well as all members now request former GS Kencho Wangdi to handover all the accounts and other related official works to newly appointed GS at the earliest to avoid future audit issues and obligations.

7. The need for Vice President, Legal Representative, Female Representative and one more Athlete Representative is very much urgent. Therefore, Mr. Chencho Dorji, the owner of Dechencholing Gym was unanimously appointed as Vice President, Mr. Chencho Drukpa, owner of Dream Fitness gym as Athlete representative. They also promised to try their best to promote Bodybuilding and fitness and support BBA in whatever capacity they can. But we could not get the suitable candidates for legal and female representatives. Members will look for the vacant post very soon.
