✨ 60 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE! 60 YEARS OF A JOURNEY WORTH CELEBRATING! ✨

Yesterday, the Francistown College of Technical and Vocational Education (FCTVE) joined Batswana across the country in commemorating a very special national milestone — 60 YEARS OF BOTSWANA’S INDEPENDENCE! 🇧🇼💙

The celebrations were held under the inspiring theme:
🇧🇼 “Ipelegeng, Itireleng… Ipuseng!” 🇧🇼

A powerful call that speaks directly to the vision of building a self-sustaining and resilient TVET sector. 🛠️🎓💡
In the face of the current economic challenges, institutions are increasingly being encouraged to think differently — to innovate, create opportunities, build partnerships and find sustainable ways of supporting their operations.
And FCTVE is not sitting on the sidelines! 💪🔥
Across the College, Departments are exploring strategic collaborations with relevant stakeholders, including partners such as BPC and Goo Moremi, to strengthen partnerships, revitalise TVET and create opportunities that can contribute to a more sustainable future. 🤝🏽⚙️📚

🇧🇼 BUT YESTERDAY WAS ABOUT MORE THAN JUST 60 YEARS…

It was a day to look back.
It was a day to remember.
It was a day to appreciate how far Botswana has travelled. ❤️🇧🇼

As members of staff shared their stories, the past came alive…
👣 Stories of walking long distances to school.
💡 Stories of a time when electricity in the household was something many could only dream about.

📵 Stories of a time when the internet — something we now cannot imagine living without — simply did not exist.
These stories reminded us that development did not happen overnight.

Botswana’s journey has been built step by step, generation by generation. 🇧🇼❤️ And yesterday, we paused to appreciate the road travelled — while also asking ourselves:

“What will OUR generation do to build the next 60 years?” 🤔🇧🇼

🌟 AND THEN CAME A VERY SPECIAL MOMENT…
FCTVE also bid farewell to our beloved “MmaBoipuso.” ❤️🥹
A colleague who has been part of the College family since its earliest years of operation — and, fittingly, shares her birthday with Botswana! 🎂🇧🇼
Indeed… ene MmaBoipuso! 🇧🇼❤️
As colleagues shared messages of love, appreciation, teamwork, dedication and well wishes, one thing became clear:

Her presence will be deeply missed. 🥹❤️
The daily greetings, familiar face, commitment and years of service have become part of the fabric of FCTVE.

🌍💚 FCTVE PARTICIPATES IN WORLD OZONE DAY 2026 COMMEMORATION 🌱❄️

📍 Gaborone | 16 September 2026

The Francistown College of Technical and Vocational Education (FCTVE) proudly participated in the World Ozone Day 2026 commemoration, with staff and students from the Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning programme joining the important environmental event. 🌍❄️🔧

🌎 THEME 2026:
✨ “Global Action for a Cooler Planet – Celebrating 10 Years of Sustainable Cooling under the Kigali Amendment.” ✨

The commemoration reflected on the remarkable global efforts to protect and restore the Earth’s stratospheric ozone layer through coordinated international action. 🛡️🌍

🎤 Professor Patricia Mogomotsi, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, emphasised that sustainable cooling is about much more than simply replacing one refrigerant with another. The sector must embrace technologies and practices that offer:

✅ Low or zero ozone-depleting potential
🌱 Lower global warming potential
🔧 Safe and sustainable operation
❄️ Environmentally responsible cooling technologies

👩🏽‍🔧 WOMEN IN REFRIGERATION & AIR-CONDITIONING

An important part of the programme focused on the role and visibility of women in refrigeration and air-conditioning. 👩🏽‍🔧❄️

FCTVE actively contributed to the panel discussion, represented by:

🎓 Principal Mr Serwalo Morategi Lesolame
👩🏽‍🔧 Candy Tlotlo Mookodi, Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning student

The discussion explored women’s participation, skills development, employment, entrepreneurship, technological change, workplace barriers and the development of a stronger national workforce for sustainable cooling in Botswana. 🇧🇼💪🏽

🎥 FCTVE also participated in the Department of Meteorology documentary, “Her Cooling Power,” which seeks to highlight the transition towards sustainable cooling. 🌱❄️📹

🌟 FCTVE RECEIVES OFFICE EQUIPMENT DONATION FROM GOD’S ONE INTERNATIONAL CHURCH 🤝🏽🎓

Francistown College of Technical and Vocational Education (FCTVE) today received a generous donation of office equipment from God’s One International Church, further strengthening the partnership between the Church and the College in supporting student welfare and the delivery of quality education.

The donation, which was made in support of the Key Skills Department and the College Administration, comprised:

🖨️ One (1) Office Printer
📦 One (1) Box of A4 Bond Paper
🖨️ One (1) Extra Printer Cartridge

The partnership between FCTVE and God’s One International Church dates back to 2023, particularly through the Department of Hospitality and Tourism, and has continued to grow through initiatives aimed at addressing student needs and promoting their wellbeing.

Speaking during the handover, FCTVE Principal, Mr Lesolame, expressed his sincere appreciation to the Church for the generous contribution. He noted that the equipment will significantly assist the College in supporting the delivery and assessment of students, particularly through improved access to essential office resources.

Mr Lesolame further highlighted that the donation comes at an important time when the Government is experiencing economic challenges and is encouraging institutions to strengthen stakeholder collaborations and partnerships as a means of improving efficiency and service delivery within institutions.

He emphasised that giving is a great thing to do, noting that while the donation directly benefits FCTVE and its students, it also brings value to the Church by allowing it to fulfil its commitment to serving the community and supporting institutions that contribute to the development of young people.

🙏🏽 FCTVE sincerely appreciates God’s One International Church for this thoughtful and impactful gesture.

🤝🇧🇼 FCTVE & GOO-MOREMI GORGE REVIEW THREE-YEAR PARTNERSHIP 🎓🏞️

Francistown College of Technical and Vocational Education (FCTVE) and Goo-Moremi Gorge Management have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their partnership following a successful review of their three-year collaboration. 🤝✨

The partnership, established through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in October 2023, has focused on:

🎓 Human resource development & skills transfer
📚 Curriculum design
💼 Entrepreneurship development
🏢 Shared infrastructure
🔬 Research and related collaborative activities

🌟 KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

One of the major successes has been the placement of 24 FCTVE students at Goo-Moremi Gorge for industrial attachment. Remarkably, all 24 students successfully completed their work-based learning — a 100% completion rate! 👏🎉

The placements provided students with invaluable practical experience and strengthened their preparedness for careers in the Hospitality and Tourism sector. 👩‍🍳🏨🌍

The partnership has also contributed significantly to the professional development of Goo-Moremi Gorge employees. Nine employees have undertaken studies at FCTVE, with two already graduating and seven currently pursuing their studies in Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports & Recreation. 🎓👏

Goo-Moremi Gorge particularly celebrated the achievement of two employees who graduated with Diplomas in Culinary Arts. 👨‍🍳🎓🔥

🚀 LOOKING AHEAD

Building on these achievements, FCTVE and Goo-Moremi Gorge are exploring an expanded partnership covering six additional areas:

🏗️ Built Environment & Maintenance
📊 Business & Accounting
⚽ Sports, Recreation & Leisure
💻 Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
💇 Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy

This expansion will provide Goo-Moremi Gorge with broader access to technical expertise while creating even more opportunities for FCTVE students to gain practical industry experience. 💪🎓🏢

Speaking during the review meeting, FCTVE Principal, Mr Serwalo Morategi Lesolame, emphasised the strategic importance of strong partnerships between TVET institutions and industry. He highlighted the importance of industry partnerships and work-based learning in developing a skilled workforce that responds effectively to industry needs. 🇧🇼👷‍♀️👨‍🔧

He also expressed appreciation to Goo-Moremi Gorge for hosting FCTVE students and supporting their welfare throughout their industrial attachments. 🙏👏

For his part, Goo-Moremi Gorge General Manager, Mr Sentsho, expressed appreciation for the quality of training provided by FCTVE and reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to the partnership. 🤝✨

🤝 A PARTNERSHIP FOR SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

The two institutions have committed to engaging their principals to facilitate the renewal of the MoU before the end of October 2026 and to broaden its scope.

The FCTVE–Goo-Moremi Gorge partnership demonstrates how meaningful collaboration between education and industry can:
