𝗧𝗘𝗕𝗢𝗚𝗢 𝗙𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗬 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗠𝗦 𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗙 𝗟𝗘𝗧𝗦𝗜𝗟𝗘’𝗦 𝗠𝗢𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥

20 May 2024· It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we, the Tebogo family announce the untimely death of Seratiwa 'Sthando-Same' Tebogo. Our beloved is the mother to Botswana's athletics champion Letsile 'Schoolboy' Tebogo. Our cherished mother departed from this world on the morning of Sunday 19"' May 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering support for her children and the family at large. May her soul rest in peace.

Seratiwa passed on while Letsile was in the United States representing the country at the Los Angeles Grand Prix.

While we go through this time of immense grief and loss, we are deeply troubled by the actions of certain media outlets responsible for sharing the news of her passing without consulting our family first. We acknowledge that Letsile Is in the public eye and so Is part of his life but this breach of trust and blatant disregard for his emotions and privacy has only added to our anguish during this difficult period.

We condemn the insensitive behavior of those who chose to prioritize 'breaking the news' over empathy. it was in the best interest of our beloved icon that the news of his mother's passing is not made public while he was away representing our country. His emotional well-being should have been respected above all else. We implore the media and social media commentators to exercise greater sensitivity in handling such matters. The pain and grief of losing a loved one cannot be overstated, and it Is crucial that the dignity and wishes of the grieving family are upheld and respected.

As we mourn the loss of our dear 'Sthando-Same', we ask for your understanding and support during this profoundly difficult time. Funeral arrangements will be made In due course.
