RAYHAN KHONAT REPRESENT BOTSWANA AT THE WORLD AQUATICS SWIMMING WORLD CUP – SILK ROAD TOUR 2026

The Botswana Swimming Sport Association is pleased to announce that national team swimmer Rayhan Khonat is competing at the 2026 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup – Silk Road Tour.

The World Cup will be contested over two legs:

Leg 1: Baku, Azerbaijan – 1st to 3rd October 2026
Leg 2: Tashkent, Uzbekistan – 8th to 10th October 2026

The Swimming World Cup is a premier international circuit that brings together some of the world’s leading swimmers. This assignment provides Rayhan with a valuable opportunity to race against world-class opposition and gain further international experience.

On behalf of the BSSA we extend our best wishes to Rayhan as he takes on the Silk Road Tour. We are confident he will represent the country with pride.

We also acknowledge the continued support of his club, DMSS Gators, family, and coaches.

As our nation celebrates 60 years of Independence, we are also celebrating a historic sporting milestone. Puni Gaetsewe has become the first woman from Botswana appointed as an official at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup 2026 in Azerbaijan-a premier stop on the Eurasian Silk Road Tour.

Officiating at this elite level demands world-class expertise and dedication. Puni's achievement breaks new ground for women in sports leadership and inspires the next generation of technical officials.

AND THAT’S A WRAP! 🇧🇼

Four incredible days of speed, strength, determination and unforgettable moments have come to an end! The XXII Africa Aquatics Zone IV Swimming Championships have officially wrapped up in Botswana.

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to every swimmer who took to the pool and gave it their all. From personal bests to record-breaking performances and hard-fought finishes, you made these championships truly special!

🥇 OVERALL CHAMPIONS — NAMIBIA 🇳🇦
🥈 2ND PLACE — BOTSWANA 🇧🇼
🥉 3RD PLACE — SOUTH AFRICA 🇿🇦

A massive congratulations to all the individual event winners and medalists across the championships. Your dedication, discipline and passion have inspired us all.

Beyond the pool, our Zone IV swimmers got a glimpse of another powerful part of the Botswana story - diamonds! 💎

The athletes had the opportunity to tour DTC Botswana, where they got to see Botswana’s diamonds up close and learn about an industry that has played a transformative role in shaping our economy and our nation.

From development and opportunity to sport development and empowering the next generation of athletes, the diamond story continues to shine far beyond the stones themselves. 🏊🏾‍♀️🏊🏾‍♂️💎

For our visiting athletes, it was a chance to experience Botswana beyond the competition - our people, our progress and our diamonds. 🇧🇼
