Township Rollers platinum sponsor Hope Kontle is ditching the traditional VIP Grand Stand experience this weekend and will instead watch Popa's blockbuster encounter against Mochudi Centre Chiefs from the Northern Stand, popularly known among the club's faithful as the Rollers Stand.
Kontle, together with his guests, have decided to trade the comfort of the VIP area for the terraces as Hope Tee Energy steps up its efforts to connect directly with Rollers supporters.
The Saturday night encounter is a Mochudi Centre Chiefs home fixture and is scheduled for 7pm at the National Stadium.
Rather than watching from the VIP section, Kontle wants to be in the thick of the action alongside the blue and yellow faithful, singing, celebrating and experiencing one of Botswana football's biggest fixtures from the supporters' perspective.
There will also be goodies for Rollers supporters at the stand as Hope Tee Energy seeks to make the evening more than just another football match.
Kontle has called on Popa supporters to come out in large numbers and turn the National Stadium blue and yellow.
"This weekend we are leaving the VIP and going straight to the Rollers Stand. We want to be with the supporters, sing with them and experience the game together. We want the Popa faithful to come in large numbers with their flags and colours and paint the stadium blue and yellow. There will also be some goodies for our supporters. We want to bring the heat and make it a memorable night for the Rollers family," Kontle said.
The move is another sign of Kontle and Hope Tee Energy's growing involvement with the club beyond their financial commitment.
Hope Tee Energy recently entered into a three-season sponsorship agreement with Rollers worth P6 million, providing P2 million per season. The partnership came at an important time for a club that had endured financial difficulties and challenges on the playing side.
