🇧🇼🚴 BOTSWANA CYCLING ASSOCIATION LAUNCHES SPONSORSHIP SUPPORT AND UNVEILS TEAM BOTSWANA!
The Botswana Cycling Association (BCA) yesterday hosted a sponsorship launch and press conference to officially acknowledge the support of Lucara Botswana, while unveiling the eight-member Team Botswana squad set to represent the country at the Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) Road Cycling Championships in Kisumu, Kenya, from 21–25 October 2026.
The event brought together key stakeholders, representatives of the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC), Ethiopian Airlines, Pulamed, various sports associations and members of the media, demonstrating the importance of collaboration in developing cycling in Botswana.
In his remarks, BCA President Kagiso Potongwane expressed appreciation for the support received and appealed to corporate entities to consider investing in cycling as a growing sport with enormous potential. Lucara Botswana donated P200k while Morupule Coal Mine did a P25k and always Pulamed did contribute by providing the conference venue and refreshments.
He highlighted the need for increased resources and sustained corporate partnerships to support athlete development, strengthen the sport’s structures and ensure its long-term sustainability.
The unveiling of the eight-member squad marks an important milestone as Team Botswana prepares to compete against some of Africa’s finest cyclists in Kisumu, Kenya. The team will carry the nation’s hopes and aspirations as it seeks to fly the Botswana flag high on the continental stage. 🇧🇼
The Botswana Cycling Association extends its sincere gratitude to Lucara Botswana and Morupule Coal Mine for their support, while acknowledging all stakeholders and partners who continue to contribute to the growth and development of cycling.
