BNSC and Edith Cowan University Visit Mogoditshane CSE

BNSC Sport Development Director, Mr Peaceful Seleka, accompanied by BNSC staff members and the Edith Cowan University (ECU) team, paid a courtesy visit to Mogoditshane Senior Secondary School Centre of Sport Excellence (CSE).

The team was welcomed by the Head of Department for Sports, Ms Letsatle, together with Senior Teacher 1, Mr Thelo. Ms Letsatle thanked BNSC and ECU for the visit and expressed appreciation for the continued support from BNSC through the hiring of coaches to keep athletes training despite the suspension of school sport activities.

She also shared her excitement about the achievements of Prince Ngwako and Daniel Bofelo at Edith Cowan University. Both students are former Mogoditshane SS CSE athletes and karatekas.

Speaking during the visit, Mr Seleka thanked the school for allowing the Commission to continue sporting activities despite the challenges faced. He encouraged the school to establish direct relationships with international universities and build strategic partnerships going forward.

He explained that the purpose of the visit was for the Edith Cowan University team to appreciate the school’s training facilities. In closing, he appealed to the university to consider offering Botswana at least five scholarship opportunities.

Currently, Mogoditshane Centre of Sport Excellence has 8 boxers, 29 netball players, 26 karatekas, and 57 football players, with athletics expected to be added soon.

Director of Marketing and Admissions, Ms Irine Mjombah, also addressed the school and gave an update on the welfare and performance of the student-athletes currently studying in Australia at ECU. She highlighted that the athletes are performing very well both academically and in sports.

She was accompanied by Ms Gloria Acholla, who is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and supports business partnerships and student recruitment across the continent.
