*Five major changes to the rules of football*
Football is set to change from June 1, 2019, with an IFAB meeting deciding on the rules that will be altered from the summer onwards. Some are minor, while others are a lot more dramatic.
*1. There will be no rebounds from penalties*
Play will stop for a restart if a penalty is saved or hits the post, meaning there will be no chance to follow up and score from rebounds, meaning players will no longer need to line up on the edge of the area.
*2. Handballs inside the area*
From June 1, goals scored that have hit a player's hand - voluntarily or involuntarily - will not be allowed.
*3. Substituted players can leave the field anywhere*
When a player is withdrawn they will no longer have to leave the field at the halfway line and will instead be permitted to leave the pitch at the nearest point.
*4. Players can touch the ball in the area after a goalkeeper kicks it out*
Until now, players could not touch goal kicks before they exited the box, but now they will be able to.
*5. Coaches will receive cards again*
It has been done in the past, but discipline of coaches changed to simple reprimands or sendings off.
Now they are able to receive yellow and red cards much like players.

Q: What's your take on the four men?
01/12/2018
IFAB have introduced nine new rules to the game which will be effective immediately from the 2016/17 season, which are:
1) Yellow card not red if player commits Denial of an Obvious GoalScoring Opportunity inside area if foul was attempt to play ball
2) Refs can now show red cards to players before kick-off for, say, fighting in the tunnel. (Can be replaced, so teams start with 11).
3) IFAB may in the future debate changes to hand-ball laws, including on the line (Suarez v Ghana) which could be punished with a penalty goal.
4) Players who feint when taking penalty now punished with yellow card & indirect freekick. No retake. Stuttering runs still allowed
5) Injured player can get treatment on pitch for up to 20 seconds & stay on, i.e. not have to go to touchline & await ref’s nod to come back on
6) Player accidentally losing boot allowed to “continue playing until play next stops”. Under-shorts must be same colour as shorts – or the hem
7) IFAB: “At kick-off, the ball can now be kicked in any direction, including backwards so no team-mates allowed to stand in opponents’ half”
8) IFAB on throw-ins: “The ball must be thrown with BOTH hands and not thrown with one hand and ‘guided’ with the other’.
9) Water breaks permissible in “very hot/humid conditions”. Law changes applicable worldwide from June 1 (and for England’s two May friendlies)
