We have elected a new chairman of the board of our Federation.
A new chairman of the Board of our Organization is Ilya Tsiareshka. 29 years old, born and raised in Brest (Belarus).
Ilya learned how to solve a Rubik's Cube in 2010. Then he took responsibility for the Brest community of speedcubers, which is why in 2010-2013 Brest was in the top 5 cities among Belarus, Ukraine and Russia in terms of the number and quality of cubers meetings.
In 2013 he was the National record holder in the "3x3 Cube" discipline.
In April 2014, he held the first WCA competition in Brest, the second one in Belarus, where more than 50 participants from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine came.
In July 2014, he received a diploma from the Brest State Technical University with a degree in Automated Information Processing Systems with the qualification of a software engineer.
In August 2014, he became the first authorized representative of the WCA in Belarus. At that time it was called the WCA Candidate Delegate. Now such a representative is called the WCA Junior Delegate.
From the end of 2014 to the present, he has been the National Record Holder in the Rubik's Clock discipline.
In September 2015, he moved to St. Petersburg (Russia), where he lived until March 2020 and taught speedcubing to children and adults. In 2018, together with like-minded people, he opened a speedcubing school.
In 2016 he received the status of WCA Delegate. The word Candidate disappeared, the duties remained the same.
Over the entire career of a WCA representative, he has contributed to refereeing, sometimes to holding, rare to organizational tasks at 100 WCA competitons in 10 countries and dozens of cities: from Guatemala to Pakistan, from Quetzaltenango in the West to Vladivostok in the East, from Murmansk in the north, to Al-Birah in Palestine .
At the same time, from 2015 to 2019, he did not forget about his hometown Brest, where he annually organized and held the WCA competitions. And also in 2018, having gathered an international team of delegates and organizers from Belarus, Ukraine and Russia, he fought for the right to host the World Championship in Brest. In a worthy fight, that team lost to a team from Melbourne (Australia), where the World Championship was held in 2019.
In March 2020, he returned to Brest, where he currently lives. And now he is ready to give his big experience to Belarus speedcubing.
Pass the floor to the first chairman Olga Sarygoz:
"Dear Belarus cubers! 3 years ago, my accidental acquaintance with speedcubing led to the fact that I decided to put this activity on a more serious basis. I decided that speedcubing deserves to become a sport, it should receive government support — all of this will allow Belarusian speedcubing to reach a world level, and this can be done only through obtaining the status of a public association.
I went through fire and water — they didn’t want to register us, they put a spoke in our wheel. So many things we have been given! It was difficult on every step of our way. But there was faith in all of you, that speedcubing is precisely an intellectual sport that everyone should know about. My admiration for you and your accomplishments has supported me every step of the way. We have done a great job in holding school cup competitions.
Covid ruined our plans. For a long time we did not know what and how to do. There was a forced break. There have been major changes in my life. I resigned as the chairman of the Federation.
Passing the post to Ilya Tsiareshka, I knew that the Federation would be in good hands. Who knows speedcubing better than Ilya? The answer is clear. Speedcubing needs flaming hearts of all of you! You are all awesome! And I wish strength to Ilya on this difficult path! I am sure that he will do everything in his power and even more for the prosperity of the Federation."
Thank you, Olga!
Pass the floor to the new chairman Ilya Tsiareshka:
"Dear speedcubers and their parents,
I would like my first words as the chairman of the Board of the Speedcubing Federation to be words of gratitude. Not only would, but also do:
I thank all the employees of the Einsteinia school, previous and current staff, thanks to whose efforts the Public Association "Speedcubing Federation" was created and have been developing in Belarus. For the three years that the Federation has existed, these people, led by the previous chairman Ольга Сарыгёз, have done a colossal amount of work.
Moreover, invisible work (legal and financial issues, negotiations with potential venues for holding competitions, solving force majeure of varying severity) was many times more than visible one (taking tests, holding official and unofficial competitions). Thanks to Olga and her team of professionals!
Also I want to say thanks to that people who inspired me when I was deciding to up for the post of chairman, and continue to be inspired for the development of our Federation:
Андрей Кристесашвили, St. Petersburg (Russia), one of the founders of the neighboring Russian Organization Федерация Спидкубинга, thanks for the example of sincerity in negotiations. An open heart is much more powerful and louder than any flatterer;
Arman Mashimov, Semey (Kazakhstan), one of the founders of the neighboring Kazakhstan Speedcubing Federation thanks for the example of strategic thinking and vision for decades to come. A well-thought-out plan will show the way to any ambitious goals;
Ron van Bruchem, Amsterdam (Netherlands), one of the founders of the World Cube Association, thanks for the example of inner strength and faith. Faith in people. Faith in speedcubing;
Thanks to all my family members, relatives, friends and acquaintances, both from the speedcuber community and from beyond, for their support throughout my path, which at this time led me to the post of chairman of the Federation;
Special thanks to everyone who deceived, slandered, betrayed me. Thanks, among other things, to your so-called negative actions, I became what I had to become for the new position. That doesn't kill us makes us stronger. It's true.
Also I want to apologize and I do to everyone I have ever hooked, offended, humiliated or delivered any other negative emotions. Forgive me, I'm a human just like you. With all the ensuing flaws and shortcomings.
Separately, I apologize to the organizer from Novopolotsk (Belarus), Nikita Chistyakov, whom I once discredited in front of speedcubers. Now I understand that at that moment I was cowardly and allowed my emotions to beat me. As a result, I could not find a sensible way out of that situation. Forgive me, Nikita!
In conclusion, I want to encourage Belarusian speedcubers to subscribe to the Federation's social networks, repost, and respond to requests when the Federation needs your help. I myself, or in the future the team of officials of the Federation itself, will not be able to promote speedcubing without the help of those for whom we, in fact, are promoting. It must be a co-directional movement. In the coming weeks, we will publish our vision and plan for the development of Belarusian speedcubing for the next few years. It will be as varied as possible, in case of a variety of economic and geopolitical nuances of Belarus.
— What do you like?
— Belarusian speedcubing.
— That's mutually!"
Thanks, Ilya!
We are starting a new chapter of Belarusian speedcubing. Hooray!
