Its always a pleasure to visit Punta Gorda during our annual summer camps and work with local businesses to promote environmental stewardship of our coastal resources.

Its always a great experience to work with Omar's Freelance Fishing and Sarteneja Alliance for Conservation and Development - Belize to implement our annual fly fishing camp in Sateneja. Truly a beautiful village with many wonderful youths ready to learn. Many thanks to Environmental Defense Fund to help making this a reality.

Caye Caulker Youth Complete First Fly-Fishing Conservation Camp - The San Pedro Sun Fourteen children from Caye Caulker recently completed the island's first fly-fishing camp, led by San Pedro guide Omar Arceo.

CZMAI is proud to have collaborated with Omar's Freelance Fishing and the Caye Caulker Village Council to execute the first fly fishing summer camp in Caye Caulker from July 6th to 10th 2026. This initiative was sponsored by Hon. Andre Perez, Minister of the Ministry of Blue Economy, Caye Caulker Marine Reserve and Hol Chan Marine Reserve.

The CZMAI family would like to extend our condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the late great Michael "Mike" J. Heusner. Mike's passion and advocacy for the proper and sustainable use of our environment, as well as his work in building and supporting Belize's sport fishing industry, are remarkable. He was a wealth of knowledge and had a gift for getting his point across, either through stories from his life experiences or analogies that were easy to understand. Mike was a truly great communicator, educator, historian, mentor, and, above all, a great friend. He will truly be missed, but his legacy will live on. Rest in Peace, Mike.
