The people of Hopkins and surrounding communities are invited to participate in an important consultation on the future of our marine resources and livelihoods.

This session will focus on the expansion of Biodiversity Protection Zones in Belize, and how these decisions may impact fishers, community members, and Indigenous Garifuna rights and access to the sea.

Your voice is important. This is an opportunity to:

●Share your knowledge and concerns

●Learn about proposed changes

●Ensure that our rights, livelihoods, and traditions are respected

Our beautiful coconut trees 🌴—planted by our dedicated villagers over 3 years ago—are now growing strong and healthy! 💪🏽 This shows our community’s commitment to preserving and beautifying our beach for everyone to enjoy. 🌅

Coconut trees not only give shade and a tropical charm 🌴✨ but also help protect our shoreline from erosion and keep our coast alive. 🌊💚
