The Abbotsford Heat announced today that they have assigned defenceman Kane Lafranchise to the Alaska Aces.

Abbotsford Heat Captain Dean Arsene announces he will be hanging up the skates and retiring after a long pro career. Thank you Dean for your leadership with the team this season and best of luck in your future endeavors!

Game Summary: The Abbotsford Heat fall 5-3 to the Grand Rapids Griffins ending their season and playing their last game as a franchise. Thank you fans for an amazing 5 years in Abbotsford and all your support.

2nd Period Summary: The Abbotsford Heat trail the Grand Rapids Griffins 3-2 after 40 minutes. The Griffins opened the scoring in the period on the PP with Teemu Pulkinen beating Ortio from the point. Jeff Hoggan added another for the Griffins after the Heat misplayed the puck in their own end. Kane Lafranchise tied things up for the Heat streaking in on the back door and went forehand backhand to tie the game at 2-2. With 33 seconds remaining Jeff Hoggan got his second of the game putting home a rebound and giving the Griffins a 3-2 lead going into the 3rd period.

1st Period Summary: The Abbotsford Heat lead the Grand Rapids Griffins 1-0 after 20 minutes of play. Shane O'Brien got the lone goal of the period with a BOMB from the point on a face-off win. Assists went to Ben Hanowski and Chris Breen.
