Received this from a customer!!
Hi Garth,
I just wanted to share my impressions of the beautiful Swordwind you made for me.
I am entering my 3rd year of German longsword, practicing 5 hrs a week between 2 different clubs here in the Okanagan. I believe my skills are progressing nicely and feel ready to wield a more advanced sword.
The upswept cross guard is exactly what wanted, and the waisted handle fits perfectly in my grip. The slim, schiltless design truly looks like an actual sharp longsword! I really appreciate the overall handmade organic esthetic, it doesn't feel manufactured, I can see and feel the human element in it; it's not just a piece of steel. Your price point offers excellent value, being equivalent to much more expensive European brands.
I finally sparred with it this week, and I love how it feels. It carries its weight in the handle and is very easy to flick and transition from guard to cut to bind. Despite being very flexible, it is not whippy and has excellent presence in the bind, it holds strong but is quick to disengage or push through as desired. An excellent tool for developing more advanced techniques.
The flex appears evenly distributed through the whole length of the blade. The entire blade will flex instead of the last ½ or ⅓ as is common among many other swords. This flex feels safer when landing a solid thrust, maintaining linear pressure instead of progressively increasing: a unique feeling.
It was a hit with everyone at both my clubs! My instructors were impressed with its feel and handling.
I am honored to have supported a Canadian blacksmith and craftsman. Everyone I train and spar with will know the name SGT!
Sincerely,
Mathieu Dorion

Seax finished, inspired by the Little Bealings seax.
Blade length 27"
Overall 36"
Pob 6 1/4 from guard
Weight 2 lbs 1 oz.
Handle mountain ash
Brass guard and butt plate.
The ash handle has no finish on it, the customer will be applying his own.
Frustrating when you dry fit everything perfect, but when you glue it everything shifts...
Crisis averted, but it was tense.
Currently working on 2 orders, after that there is 2 orders for custom swords. (And 1 knife)
At that point all ordets will be complete. Then we will be moving on to some cool projects, a pata, a zweihander, and many other wicked projects.
I have had to pick up a dayjob so my shop time will be limited.
