Everyone says they want to win.
Very few actually want to be coached.
Because being coachable means:
β Hearing something you donβt want to hear
β Changing habits youβre comfortable with
β Doing it differentβ¦ even if it feels worse at first
Thatβs where most people check out.
They want progress without correction.
Confidence without accountability.
Results without changing anything.
I can tell almost immediately whoβs going to improve and itβs not always the most talented rider.
Itβs the one who hears:
βShorten your reins.β
βSit deeper.β
βDo it again.β
β¦and actually does it.
No attitude.
No excuses.
No ego.
Just effort.
If youβre only coachable when it feels good,
youβre not coachable.

Food for thought !
Things Iβll never understandβ¦
Going to a barrel race unprepared and expecting it to go well.
You havenβt ridden all week.
Maybe you rode once.
But you loaded up.
Paid the entry fees.
Paid for fuel.
Took the time.
And still expected magic.
Hereβs the truth:
Confidence comes from preparation.
Consistency comes from repetition.
Feel comes from saddle time.
You canβt shortcut the work and expect the result.
This isnβt just horses itβs life.
If you want to be good at something:
β’ You practice when itβs boring
β’ You ride when youβre tired
β’ You fix things at home instead of hoping they fix themselves in the alley
Running your horse is not the same as training your horse. You donβt rise to the occasion.
You fall back on your preparation.
If you want different results,
the work has to change first.
No judgment just reality.
Put the time in.
Make the fuel and entry fee worth it.
