Still tons of summer splendour left in the season, my friends, especially given that some of our favourite music festivals are still coming up!

We’re so proud to announce that Pete Moss is representing us at Cultivate Festival September 20-22!

Pete (he/him) is a children’s musician, outdoor educator and child and adolescent psychotherapist candidate at the Canadian Institute for Child & Adolescent Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Having spent the last 10 years as a program designer, staff trainer and educator at Evergreen Brickworks, Pete has transitioned to offering nature-themed programming across Ontario including participatory children's concerts, pop-up nature play activations and professional development for OCTs, ECEs and outdoor educators. Building upon his work as a lead Forest & Nature school educator and staff trainer, Pete’s programs are infused with principals of place-based learning, the importance of child-led play and a playful approach that prioritizes experiential learning, curiosity and wonder.

So proud to welcome Pete and thankful for carrying on the good work!

Over the last couple weeks we’ve run some fantastic events with . On July 16th we invited families to join us for a day of miscellaneous outdoor mirth and play at Loon Call Lake in . We paddled, learned about fire starting, learned ALL about wildlife, and stayed cool by taking more than one swim in the lake.
Then, on July 19th, we were joined by a terrific group of kids and youth as we paddled from the docks of allll the day down through Locks 21 and 20 to finish our day at Roger’s Cove. We couldn’t have asked for a better group to spend these gorgeous summer days with!

While giving the Homeplace bunkie some much-needed TLC (goodbye, old house wrap!), Dré and Sally preserved this nest that was left behind by last season’s Eastern Phoebes! Check out that artistic use of moss and mud to shape the perfect little cup of a nest. It would have been home to anywhere from 2 to 6 eggs, and was nestled under the shelter of the bunkie’s porch overhang. Stunning! 🪺
